SwiftPageEmail | | Paul Broun misleading voters on his Military record Athens, GA - Last night, Bobby Saxon, candidate for the 10th Congressional District, called out his opponent, Paul Broun, for misleading voters about his military service. Broun has consistently referred to himself as a “pre-Vietnam” Marine, though he served in the Marine Reserves in 1964. A video was posted by the Saxon campaign on Youtube with Broun’s own words confirming his statements. When given the opportunity to correct his statements, Paul Broun said, “the thing is, I joined the Marine Corps reserves in early 1964. Vietnam wasn’t even an issue.” The truth: 206 service members died in Vietnam in 1964. By the time Congressman Broun finished his "pre-Vietnam" service nearly 20,000 United States service members had perished in Vietnam. "As an active member of the Georgia Army National Guard I have a deep respect for reserve service. I'm not questioning Congressman Broun's service. I'm questioning why he has repeatedly misled the voters about the years he served. He acts like the 206 Americans that died fighting for this country during his first year of "pre-Vietnam" service were insignificant. It is shameless that he would dishonor the sacrifice of these brave patriots" Saxon said. Bobby Saxon is an Iraq War combat veteran and the owner of an ACT! software training and consulting company that focuses on the technology needs of small businesses. Bobby grew up in Oconee county and now lives in Nicholson, GA. He is a Major in the Georgia Army National Guard and has served in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Pentagon. Bobby attends Bethany United Methodist Church, is a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 2872 in Athens, GA, the American Legion, Post 56 in Jefferson, GA, and a life member of AMVETS post 10 in Athens, GA. | | PAID FOR BY SAXON FOR CONGRESS P.O.
