; Dear Signers of the Petition Regarding the Rezone on Daniells Bridge Road:

Some of you know this. The Board of Commissioners on Tuesday night
postponed the hearing on the rezone on Daniells Bridge Road just east of
the blind curve. The Banner-Herald has not written about this. The
Enterprise got most of the story wrong. For that reason, I'm writing to
provide an update for those who need and want it.

Although the Board of Commissioners had agreed to the public hearing on
election night, several members decided at the last minute they would
like to see details of what is planned for the upgrade of Daniells
Bridge Road west of the site. They discovered they needed these plans
only after citizens contacted them to complain about the rezone.

The plans are unlikely to include an elimination of the blind curve. In
fact, the drawings are supposed to start with Lynn Drive and go west to
the Connector. Lynn Drive is in the middle of the blind curve. In
addition, the developer of the proposed office business park has said it
will start construction on the project in June of 2009 and complete the
project by January of 2011. That means that any significant road changes
are likely to be completed long after the office business park is open
and discharging traffic on Daniells Bridge Road.

The hearing on the rezone is now rescheduled for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec.
2. Please put that date on your calendar and plan to attend. We had 15
people prepared to speak at the hearing on election night. On the 2nd,
ideally, we will have even more.

We were prepared to turn in about 225 signed petitions, including yours,
at the hearing on Tuesday night. We need to get even more.

Please pass along this note to anyone in Oconee County 18 years old or
older who you think might sign. If not every adult in your household
signed, ask them to do so. If you are willing to go door-to-door in your
neighborhood, please let me know and I'll send you a copy of the
petition. Some people who won't take the time to go online and sign will
sign if you appear at the door.

Here's the address for the online petition:

I have several stories on my blog that give background on the rezone. Go

Thanks
