Calls Creek gets a much-needed makeover in Oconee Park rehab || OnlineAthens.com

When I first started covering the Watkinsville City Council, well before living in Oconee County, I was aghast at the then city council's decision more than a decade and a half ago to use garbage in an attempt to stabilize the eroding stream bank. Three mayors later and almost an entire city council membership roll over, that temporary refuse fix is coming back to haunt the efforts to correct the Calls Creek erosion efforts. I wish nothing but the best and success for Mark Campbell and Carter Engineering of Bogart in shoring up the creek banks. Equally daunting are the pair of three-pipe bridges on the property north of Hog Mountain Road/State Route 53 heading behind the jail and the church where the creek will flow through as well.
