From Walter Jones, Morris News... Quick, Williams introduce bill to unify Oconee

ATLANTA -- Three Oconee County election precincts will revert to the district represented by Rep. Chuck Williams under legislation introduced Wednesday.
State Republicans controlling the House of Representatives had moved the precincts in 2011 into a district represented by then-Rep. Doug McKillip who had recently switched from the Democratic to the Republican Party. The move was widely seen as an attempt to shore up McKillip's re-election chances with some Oconee GOP voters.
After Rep. Regina Quick defeated McKillip in the 2012 Republican primary, county leaders renewed their objections to Oconee being split. They feared that neither representative would be devoted to Oconee concerns.
There's no guarantee the split will be restored this year, according to Quick.
"I don't know if there's going to be consideration of any reapportionment requests at all this year," she said. "But if there is, or if it is next year, I want Oconee to be first in line."
