Early voting for July 22 Primary Runoff begins Monday
Early voting for July 22 Primary Runoff begins Monday - TODAY!!!
EARLY VOTING
Early voting for the July 22 primary runoff election begins Monday
and runs through July 18, excluding Independence Day. Voters who cast
partisan ballots during the primary will have to vote the same party in
the runoff. Those who did not vote during the May Primary or those who
submitted a nonpartisan ballot may vote in either party.
Oconee County is voting on the Post 3 Board of Commissioners' race between incumbent Margaret Hale and seemingly perpetual candidate W.E. "Bubber" Wilkes. Early voting is at the Board of Elections office at 10 Court Street next to the Oconee County Court House in downtown Watkinsville.
Only those who ask for a Republican ballot can vote in that lone local race between Wilkes and Hale, and you cannot vote in that contest if you chose a Democratic ballot in the May primary.
You may vote in the Runoff if you are registered even if you did not vote in the primary. You do not have to be a member of the Republican party or the Democratic party to vote in either parties' Runoff, but you must be registered to vote.
Democratic voters do get to choose between Valarie Wilson of Decatur and State Representative Alisa Thomas Morgan to determine the nominee for the Georgia School superintendent race in the fall.
Republicans will also get to choose a candidate for School superintendent as well between Richard Woods and Mike Buck as well as the Senate nominee between Athens native Jack Kingston and David Perdue as well as the 10th District Congressional race between Reverend Jody Hice and Mike Collins to replace Paul Broun as the nominee to face Athens attorney and Democratic nominee Kenneth Dious in the November general election.
There will be a Saturday voting session (July 19) immediately before the actual Runoff and there may be voting at the Civic Center the week before the July 22nd Runoff.
Polls will be open in Oconee, Clarke and surrounding counties Monday
through July 18. All times are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday,
