Oconee County Sheriff's Office wrap up after 4th of July celebration at Veterans park

Thanks to all who came out and had a wonderful time at the fireworks show at OVP last night. It was another virtually incident free event, which is amazing considering the number of people moving about in one area for so long. In the two previous July 4th events at OVP, we didn't make a single arrest or have a single reported criminal incident.
Unfortunately, we didn't make it three years in a row as about 15 minutes prior to wrapping up traffic direction we had a DUI driver try to enter the park despite two deputies trying to stop her.
A special thanks goes out to Sgt. Jason Lowe who planned and coordinated all of the OCSO efforts and worked with the good folks from Oconee County Parks & Recreation.
Also, we would like to thank the UGA Police for providing and delivering the digital message board signs that were up along Highway 53. I'm told they deployed the signs with the efficiency of a NASCAR pit crew.
