Old-fashioned brag

Image
These are four women I urge you to donate to and support Sincerely,  Dan Matthews From: information@email.emilyslist.org To: danmatt@hotmail.com Subject: Fwd: Old-fashioned brag Date: Mon, 11 Jun 2012 16:14:40 -0600 Dear Friend, Grace Meng, Tulsi Gabbard, Kelda Roys, and Kyrsten Sinema -- four remarkable pro-choice Democratic women, all 36 years old or younger -- are fighting for their lives in hotly contested races.   Grace's primary is right around the corner on June 26. Tulsi's opponent has TV ads up already, and she needs to get on the air to respond. One of Kelda's opponents just dropped out, making her race a two-way fight. And a new poll shows Kyrsten is tied for the lead. They can't win these close races unless you and I are there for them right now. We can have a new generation of amazing women speaking out for us in Congress if we act today. Click here today to give directly to Grace,Tulsi, Kelda, and K...

Testy turns in Sheriff's debate last night at Political Forum

I have no doubt that both people running for Sheriff in Oconee County are good people and fine law enforcement officers.  There were a few sparks last night at the North Oconee County High School Fine Arts forum that really left me wondering who is going to win the race. It also kind of made me sad about the schism that is so evidently present between these two candidates and their followers and wonder about what will happen in Oconee County, Georgia after July 31, 2012. There are deep wounds inflicted on both sides of this contested race, and many things more than mere campaign signs have been slashed. I think this race will be extremely tight and could go either way.  One candidate did themselves a favor last night in my opinion, and another candidate seemed to strike a much more strident tone and may have inflicted damage to their once viable campaign. Before last night my supposedly conventional wisdom would have predicted that Sheriff Berry would win in a narrow victo...

Brothers Williams, Ivie leave little doubt who runs Watkinsville

It was back to the future at the Watkinsville City Council as Mayor Charles Ivie reminisced about 1974 which was the year he was last on the council with his former council mate now Representative Chuck Williams and his brother David dominating the meeting as only they know how. It was also the first year of the Fall Festival, when it started about the size of the current Farmers Market downtown on Saturday mornings. They managed together to keep the semi-destroyed barbecue pits high enough for the Rotary to cook their 750 chicken halves properly and the Rocket Field was declared the official venue for insurance principals for the Fall Festival as run by the Chamber of Commerce, even without an official vote (although there was a Motion and 2nd) for approval although I might've been blinded by the brilliance and radiance of the convergent Williams brothers. There were several other glitches or reminders of parliamentary procedure needed by Mayor Ivie, none of which were the lea...

I hope they can take out the nests of invasive starlings that have strafed and dive-bombed me as I tried to watch my son twice at the Nike Elite basketball camp with his buddy Seth. I would have been shocked to see deputies deployed at noon today when kids are plum tuckered out from full court action. Carter Huckaby can't miss. Everyone is welcome to every Oconee County Democratic Committee meeting (especially candidates)

The Oconee County Democratic Committee has two meetings (June 21 and July 19) before the GOP Primary on July 31. We welcome any and all candidates, voters, media, and any other interested individuals to ANY AND ALL meetings ANYTIME, be they Republican, Democratic, independent, Green, Libertarian or none of the above.  The only exception to that in the decades I have been involved with the local Democratic party are the annual caucuses, and these are not caucuses. To anyone who has either attended or involved themselves in any of the political forums, God bless you, but for God's sake, they are generally incredibly contrived and boring for the most part. Since the Democratic party has no candidates this time around, and we would like to be involved in the local political process, we have encouraged our more active and voting members to "cross over" and select a Republican ballot to get our two cents worth in the local political process. I have done this for every Prima...
