And now a request from Mary Mellein

Dear Concerned Citizen,
I am righting to encourage you to come the next Board of Commissioners meeting
October 3rd. Plum Creek Timberlands will be requesting a rezone of 365 acres of
timber land from A1 to AR5. We want to send a message to the timber company as
well as the BOC that we don’t want to see the South end of the county become a
row of subdivisions. This timber land backs up to the Apalachee River and is
one of the most exquisitely beautiful and natural area in the county. As a
result of state and federal programs the timber company can profit almost as
much by putting the land into a trust as it will putting it into houses. We are
quickly loosing our natural environment. There are ways to preserve our natural
treasure and allow land owners to profit.

This piece of land will be a key element in making the River Walk that Mr. Russ
Page is working so hard to create. If you want to preserve an historic piece of
nature that we as well as our children can enjoy, please come and sign up to
speak. If others express your sentiments you can just acknowledge your
agreement. The commission meeting starts at 7:00 pm in the courthouse first
floor.
Mary Mellein
