Watkinsville Council turns down license for oxygen bar, approves fees for park | Online Athens This is the only time I can ever recall the Watkinsville City Council flat out turning down someone wanting to do business in their lovely town. I think the concept of an oxygen bar kind of floated past them. He always seemed very interested in qualifying for his pension. He also is one of four folks working with the Watkinsville Car Wash behind the Chicken Express. He served two terms as Mayor and at least that many as city council member after being the first Code Enforcement Officer. Both he and his subsequent replacement Robert Hegge have a nicotine habit that I hope they cure soon enough. License approved for new restaurant | Online Athens The emergence of Girasoles upon the restaurant scene of Watkinsville was another watershed moment in 2005 where we could have an actual choice of upscale eateries in the city. Chef Jose Zambrano is my favorite culinary talent in the area. I have followed him from three different restaurants to his present location, and he can make anything you want even if it is not on the menu.
