Few more photos of Jennifer Riddle, Regina Quick and Doug McKillip

Tax Commissioner candidate Jennifer Riddle responds to the question from NewsTalk 1340 WGAU AM talk show host and moderator Tim Bryant about an opening statement after he read a statement from her opponent Pamela Lohr Hendrix, who was absent from the forum because of a vacation scheduled for a long time before the forum sponsored by the Oconee County Chamber of Commerce. Riddle works in the office in the basement of the Oconee County Courthouse while Hendrix is on the Tax Equalization Board and has run for Superior Court Judge unsuccessfully before. State Representative Doug McKillip has decided to force Georgia women to have government mandated child birth after being "born again" himself. No word as to whether he is allowed to change his mind after 20 or 23 or 26 weeks. Also no word as to whether the child birth mandate applies to females as young as 12 years old or as old as 69. Regina "QUICK" Update

I see State Representative Doug McKillip and his wife Mary walking around 5 Points almost every morning when I drive to work. I would well expect that this Republican primary race will contentious, expensive, and more like a sensational murder trial than a campaign. Here are a few opportunities to engage the process. Can you name five people in Oconee County in this district? I cannot without computer software. I know there is at least one Oconee County Chamber of Commerce debate tentatively beginning on 6:30 pm with the meet and greet portion and then with the Tim Bryant moderated event going from 7:30-9:00 pm Saturday, July 14th at North Oconee High School auditorium. Caterpillar breaks ground on Oconee/Clarke plant in Bogart and Athens area

I greatly welcome Caterpillar with open arms and deep pockets. Plenty of people are already seeing dollar signs in their eyes with putting homes up for sale in the area or at least making plans to do so. I would imagine a lot of the stagnant developments may finally get built or at least more built out than they have. My only real complaint, and yes it is self-serving and tawdry, is that they could have been more inclusive in the guest list for this event. Most definitely President Barack Obama could have and should have been there, and I understand his Georgia agenda for the day started at 4:00 pm. I would have liked to have seen the event not be so exclusive as to not have anyone from the loyal opposition in either party from either county.  Caterpillar should make efforts to connect with the public at large and not just the elite who belong to the right country club and or Chamber of Commerce. Archie Jordan performs Valentine's concert to benefit YWCO at North Oconee HS

Image
From our friends at the YWCO comes a concert by an artist I was not familiar with before today: Award-winning songwriter/singer Archie Jordan will be performing at the acoustically magnificent and spacious North Oconee (High School) Fine Arts Center at 5:00 pm Sunday, February 14 with the $10.00 admission going to the benefit of the YWCO (Young Women's Christian Organization) and its programming.  He has been nominated for a Grammy award twice and has eight Number One songs to his credit, including " It Was Almost Like A Song " from the film The Bridges of Madison County as well as seven gold and three platinum albums. More than 100 artists have covered his songs . He plays the piano and guitar and uses comedy well in his small- town-story-filled concerts. You can get tickets from the YWCO or the Oconee Chamber of Commerce.
