The Oconee County Democrats are sponsoring an event on Thursday, April 23 rd , 7 p.m. at the Oconee County Library.  The program will be a presentation by Superior Court Judge H. The City of Watkinsville worked wonders to make sure that developmentally disabled children will continue to have every opportunity to enjoy life at the Extra Special People expansion incorporating property from the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9147 as well as a sliver of city property from the back end of Harris Shoals Park thanks to donations of planning and construction among many other amazing facets of this truly wonderful story. Jon Williams of Williams and Associates drew up many architectural renderings of what awaits the intersection of VFW Drive, Mimosa intersectioned  into a reworked road out of the back end of Harris Shoals Park. There will also be a cul-de-sac like turn-around for buses and the like. Also the pre-existing dance studio of Joan Mann shall remain in the VFW property as well, just moved a bit. Bird Box Build: 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Watkinsville Woods Park, Downtown Watkinsville. Participants drawn from the neighborhoods around the park will learn a simple method for constructing a bird box, hear an expert presentation about cavity-nesting birds and, weather permitting, take a nature walk in the park. For more information, contact Alice Woodruff at (706) 202-5175. No charges have been filed pending completion of the investigation. (09-0700) BURGLARY A vacant Ruth St residence owned by Ernest Peek of Northcrest Dr was burglarized between 1200 April 11 and 1430 April 12. A refrigerator and stove valued at $2,200 were stolen. (04-0887) Between 0920 and 0945 April 12, Athens Arena, 280 Commerce Blvd, was burglarized. Bottles of alcohol valued at $309 were stolen. The suspects are a white female, a darker complexion female, two black males, and a white male. No further descriptions were given. They left in a white, medium size car – possibly a Honda or Toyota.
