Will it be Saxby or Jim Martin's last stand?

The negative advertising barrage by Saxby Chambliss and those who support him could come back to bite him on the ass, but as of right now, Sunday, I have to go with a 51-49 edge for the incumbent, as much as I might want challenger to emerge victorious. I will also predict a Jim Powell and Sara Doyle victory

But he can't do it without you.

The runoff election for the U.S. Senate is coming up on Tuesday, December 2nd. There's not a lot of time left, but you can still have an important impact on this race.

Will you make a donation of $25 or more to support Jim Martin, Georgia's candidate for change?

Jim Martin is a Vietnam veteran, a fighter for the middle class, and a leader who will work hard to rebuild our economy. He's committed to good-paying jobs, affordable health care, and quality education for Georgians and all Americans.

ELECT JIM MARTIN from People for the American Way

People For the American Way

Dear Dan,

This is HUGE. If you and other Georgia progressives can spread the word and get out the vote for Jim Martin this Tuesday, it could mean erasing one of the biggest barriers to change for President-elect Obama and the Democratic majority: the Senate filibuster.

If Democrat Jim Martin can defeat Sen. Saxby Chambliss in Tuesday's runoff election, the Democrats could have a filibuster-proof 60 votes in the U.S. Senate. And that would be a critical protection against Republicans' efforts to subvert and block the change Americans so overwhelmingly voted for on November 4. (Not to mention that Saxby Chambliss is about as far to the right as they come in the U.S. Senate and this could be a great opportunity to elect a senator who represents YOUR values.…

Subject: BOC meeting tonight: SPLOST and other agenda items

I apologize for the short notice, but hopefully you've seen some of the press coverage concerning the SPLOST renewal that the county is considering.   The actual vote on the SPLOST by the citizens of Oconee County will come in March 2009, but the allocation of the revenue generated from the six-year Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax will be decided now by the Board of Commissioners.

Below is the agenda for tonight's BOC meeting.  There are several items on the agenda of long-term impact in addition to the SPLOST (waste water treatment, Daniells Bridge Road concept plan, ambulance service).

If you haven't followed the SPLOST issue very closely, I …

Yes, that's right, advance voting has started in the runoff election between DFA-List candidate Jim Martin and Bush Republican Saxby Chambliss.

This is your last chance to vote prior to the December 2 runoff election day. Advance voting hours have changed because of the Thanksgiving holiday, with some counties offering extended hours Monday through Wednesday. Advance voting will not be available Thursday, Friday, or next Monday.

Check advance voting hours in your county

With great successes up and down the ballot, we have a lot to be thankful for this year, but our work isn't done. Georgians are ready for change, and Jim Martin is the candidate of change.
