My letter to the editor of the Oconee Enterprise after they published the names and ages of minor sex abuse victims

Dear Editor: I would like to know your rationale for printing the names and ages of the minors in the sex abuse trial last week as the top story. It was completely unnecessary, gratuitous and not worthy of the county organ. At least have the decency to bury it inside instead of sharing the lurid details of the Cobb family. You have done more to ruin the reputation of the Oconee Enterprise in one story than has been done in hundreds of issues previously, and you have also granted legitimacy to your competition. Watkinsville City Council swears in new member at November 2013 meeting

Image
The City of Watkinsville city council met for their usual monthly meeting 7:00 pm Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at the Watkinsville Community Center on VFW Drive just behind the Harris Shoals Park on top of the hill. After Probate Judge David Anglin swore in new member Marcia "Marci" Campbell, the meeting turned to recognition of this young man Caleb Land of Scout Troop 3537. Mayor Charles Ivie commended the young Boy Scout for his involvement in the municipal government. The minutes were approved for the called meeting October 21 and the previous regular monthly meeting October 9th after a minor correction from Council member Brian Brodrick. His wife and family were in the crowd and his considerable brood were well behaved on all accounts. Mrs. Susan Wells Brodrick has been term-limited out after 13 years on the library board and the only scintilla of controversy or lack of resolution may have been that there was no one to step forward to take the City of Watkinsvill
