Oconee Fall Festival ready for 38th year of entertainment

There is a yard sale going on October 15th at the home of Rita Bennett at Second and School Streets in Watkinsville. Rita has a screened in porch where you could put anything right now and her driveway is on School Street next to Rocket Field. We need your gently used clothes, books, furniture, working televisions, stereos, or basically anything you can donate now. As if there were not enough going on tomorrow, here is a great chance for some run, fun and fitness in the sun early tomorrow morning. Sorry to report I am helping set up the Oconee Democratic Committee yard sale near the bike wheel spinning art at the Fall Festival about 6:30 am, then have a soccer game for my son circa 8:30 am, then have to go to Druid Hills to deal with my father, then come back from a catered meal maybe here. I will come and pick them up, or you can drop them off at Rita Bennett's house on the corner of School and Second Streets in Watkinsville. Her house is across the street from the left field corner of Rocket field and near some of the cool street art of spinning wheels inside a colorful painting. We need your help in donating your items that you are no longer using for a yard sale for the Oconee County Democratic Committe during the Oconee County Fall Festival October 17. You can call my house at 706-769-1131 and leave a message or just haul it on over to Rita's house at School Street. We need it soon and urge you to price it yourself, or at least suggest a price when dropping it off. Rita's driveway is on Second, and I just spent a couple hours lobbing off vast chunks of privet, wisteria and crepe myrtles to try and make her yard just a little more presentable for the mass quantities of people presumed to be walking by for the Oconee County Fall Festival that same day. ...

Despite the numerous signs saying no campaigning on Rocket Field, guess which Chairman of the Board of Commissioners chose to ignore this and was glad handing everyone he could? We bought our usual dinosaur bone from the Karwoskis and did the candle melt thing and saw lots of big hair being done. The yard sale seemed to be going well except for lack of yard signs.
