70-some odd people parked at the Park Avenue Bank at the start of Highway 316 just across the Oconee county line and took a short shuttle run in Prius Hybrid cars (Pri-ii?) to the home of Pat and Neil Preist, who have done an outstanding job making their house as energy efficient and sufficient as possible without creating a wind turbine. They have multiple solar panels on their new tin roofed house, a 3000 gallon rain water cistern partially underground collecting rain off the roof of their barn/garage, perma-culture gardening of things like blueberries which will grow forever and other activities. Board of Commissioners member Chuck Horton attended as did former candidate Mary Mellein. Other familiar faces included Charlie Baugh and Carter and Becky Vaughn.
