Brown's half dozen nets all-time single game record for Oconee soccer goals

*Oconee County scoring record:  Anna Kate Brown set a school record for most goals in a game by any player, boys or girls, with six in Oconee County’s recent 14-4 victory against Franklin County, according to the Oconee Enterprise. Brown added another goal less than three minutes into the next match, a 3-0 victory against Lakeside-Evans. “I’ve never come close to something like that,” Brown told the Enterprise. “The most I’ve ever had was probably three [in a single game]. I didn’t realize I had six until the end of the game. I was there at the right time and I was just really accurate that game.” Oconee County, ranked No. 6 in Class AAA by Score Atlanta and No. 7 by Eurosport, was 8-2 going into weekend games against Hart County and Greenbrier.

UPDATE: Broun won't seek earmarks for J. Phil Campbell Center Written by Mike Sprayberry    Friday, 25 February 2011 President Barack Obama’s proposed Fiscal Year 2012 includes the potential closing of the J. Phil Campbell Sr. National Resource Conservation Center in Watkinsville.   The Center, a part of the United States Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service, currently employs 24 people and operates on a budget of $2,961,000. If the President’s proposed budget passes both houses of Congress and is signed into law by the President in its current form, the Watkinsville location and its current projects would be shut down.   “The President’s budget for FY2012 proposes funding of $1.137 billion for ARS,” explained Sandy Miller Hays of the ARS. “This is a net reduction of approximately $42 million from t...

I think the Oconee County School System is wonderful, but I do wish they could tolerate dissent and criticism a little better and not take it so personally. We all wants what's best for our children. Thank you to Principal Beckham for a fine tenure at the top of the Oconee County High School, and I hope the next choice for Principal will continue the excellence we have come to expect in the best county in the state. Image
From: "Bryan Long, Better Georgia" Subject: Gov. Deal's Half-Million-Dollar a Week Failure When it comes to expensive, frustrating and broken websites for government programs, the President's got nothing on Gov. Nathan Deal. Georgia taxpayers are shelling out nearly half a million dollars a week just in overtime pay to fix Gov. Deal's broken system for Georgia's neediest families - those applying for help to feed their families. And, what does Gov. Deal think about this problem? He told 11Alive's Rebecca Lindstrom that, despite a November letter from the federal government warning that unless the state takes corrective action, $75 million in funding could be in jeopardy , he was unaware of the scope of the problem until recently: " I'd only become aware that it was of that magnitude just fairly recently ."
