Ashford on Main unveiled tonight at the Sanctuary

Ashford Manor Bed and Breakfast just doubled in size with the announcement that Dave Shearon and Mario Castro will be moving in their neighbor's to the south where Mike and Nona Thornton lived with their family. Anyone who attended the Daughters of the American Revolution's dedication of the pocket park in front of Jittery Joe's knows how far that property stretches. Dave and Mario will live upstairs and the downstairs will function as another meeting and event space. They are having a party to celebrate the 60th birthday of David Shearon's birth on March 25th as a fundraiser for the Dancing with the Athens Stars Team 6 with the unveiling of their new digs. Should be quite the soiree.

Brother of Oconee sheriff gets 15 years for child porn | Online Athens

I think any challenging candidates counting on this rather delicate issue as some springboard for them to upset Sheriff Berry in the upcoming Republican primary would be sadly mistaken. In fact, I think voters in Oconee County are just resilient and intelligent enough to think beyond this unfortunate criminal act by the brother of the Sheriff. It would be one thing if it had been covered up, but this is anything but the case here. Kudos to Sheriff Berry for taking charge of this disturbing family member and getting him the help and incarceration he needs. Brother of Oconee sheriff gets 15 years for child porn | Online Athens

Kemp: Super Tuesday primary date made Georgia relevant | Online Athens

I see Secretary of State Brian Kemp or his wife in line at Athens Academy to pick up our kids maybe twice a week. I wish Georgia was more relevant in the national Presidential campaigns and that President Barack Obama would come to the Caterpillar opening next week. I have not yet received my invitation. Please attend the screening of this amazing documentary at the Sanctuary located at 2nd and Barnett Shoals in Watkinsville Saturday at 7:00 pm and consider eating at Kumquat Mae restaurant before hand as they are donating 10% of the proceeds to the Team 6 of Athens Dancing with the Stars. This film is about the infancy of aerial performances in the Northeast Georgia area, especially Elberton. This is a fascinating look back at the barnstorming days post World War II. This film was shot by Matt Gennaro with help from Grady Thrasher whose father is the rather fascinating focus of this film about an airplane mounted on top of a car and the shows around the Southeast. The funds raised go toward Project Safe in the name of Dave Shearon and Elissa Bacso of Team 6. They will be competing in the latest competition of Dancing with the Athens Stars April 1st at the Classic Center against the likes of Barbara Dooley, Bob Smith, and many others.

VOTE TEAM SIX!

Just got robo-called by Barbara Bush on behalf of Willard "Mitt" Romney

I have never enjoyed receiving robo-calls. I did get former Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond and the newly single and former Lieutenant Governor nominee Carol Porter to record some for me in my State Legislature campaign. I doubt whether Barbara Bush is going to convince many Democratic voters in Oconee County to crossover and vote for Mitt, but I think that would do the worst for Newt Gingrich. I strongly encourage all voters to go to the polls tomorrow to support whomever they want in the Georgia Presidential Primary and remind you that you can choose a Democratic ballot and support Presidenti Barack Obama if the choices on the Republic side have no appeal. One side of me would think that Newt winning Georgia will prolong the Republican nomination process a few more weeks. Mitt won five in a row counting Washington. I am fairly certain he will have more delegates Wednesday morning. Oh yes, there is a Ron Paul rally at the Georgia Theatre 5:00 pm this Monday afternoon and there are...
