Dr. David Jarrett mounts late symbolic write-in campaign against Bill Cowsert in State Senate 46th District

Image
"Members of the Clarke County Democrats are supporting my write in campaign for the 46th State Senate district. Tell your friends to write me in as a protest against Republican misrule of the State," said Dr. David Jarrett on his Facebook page Sunday. He will be running against three term incumbent Republican Bill Cowsert. Whether this is strictly symbolic or will actually count for something depends on whether or not Dr. Jarrett registered his write-in candidacy with the Secretary of State's office by the deadline in June I believe.  A check of the Secretary of State's website Sunday indicated no opposition for Cowsert, so any votes for Jarrett will not be counted.  Jarrett subsequently indicated that he had not officially registered his write-in candidacy with any official election officers at either the state or local level by the deadline Dr. Jarrett is a practicing psychiatrist and addiction counselor in Athens-Clarke County.

Bring your cell phone, and we'll get you a list to make calls. Our early turnout numbers are better than we had projected, and this race is going to go down to the wire. Help us reach out to voters in District 46, and let's put Sherry over the top.   We'll have pizza and drinks on Monday night, so just bring your cell phone!   Thanks, Johnathan

Interesting analysis of Malcolm-Cowsert contest

Oconee County may account for only 22% of the 46th state senate district , but I wager our turn out will be upwards toward 80% of those eligible to vote will pull the lever or insert the card. Remember the register to vote by Monday if you have not done so already.
