Video: President Obama thanks you

Friend -- The results of Tuesday's elections were disappointing for a lot of us. But because of the work you all did, we won some key races in places all over the country. We have a lot to be proud of -- and a lot of work still left ahead. The President recorded a message yesterday thanking you for all you've done. Take a moment to watch it: http://my.barackobama.com/Nov4thThankYou Thanks, Mitch Mitch Stewart Director Organizing for America Paid for by Organizing for America, a project of the Democratic National Committee -- 430 South Capitol Street SE, Washington, D.C. 20003. Newly re-elected Casey Cagle facing a palace coup

Wow - I suspect this is just the first of a long series of the new GA. G.O.P. circling the wagons in reverse infighting that shall be on public display (sometimes). I reckon it pays to read Peach Pundit to know what is coming down, although Erick Erickson could not get Carol Porter or Roy Barnes elected all by himself. Activism asked for by Oconee County Cycling Organization to Land Use and Transportation Committee Meeting Tuesday at Veterans Park

Hi everyone...we need some help from you. Next Tuesday, November 9th, at 7:00 PM in the community center at Oconee Veterans Park, Oconee County's Land Use and Transportation Committee (LUTC) is meeting on two critical cycling initiatives: 1. Northeast Georgia Rails to Trails 2. Share the Road signs for the county We need as many of you and your friends as possible to attend this meeting. By so doing we will be exhibiting to the committee that our community is fully supportive of both of these initiatives. Further, we believe that a large group will help increase the chances that the LUTC will positively endorse these initiatives (which endorsement is then passed to the County Board of Commissioners for a final vote). A positive vote from the BoC will open the way for us to begin identifying specific roads to install Share the Road signage! Thank you for your interest in helping enhance the cycling infrastructure of Oconee County. Happy cycling, Brett Haslam

Run off predictions/theroums/equivacations

If former Athens Tax Commissioner Nancy Denson wins the forthcoming Athens Mayoral run-off Tuesday, November 30, 2010, then Dave Hudgins should win the District 5 Commissioner race against AthFest founder Jared Bailey. If Gwen O'Looney wins the Athens Mayoral run-off, then it will be a cakewalk for Jared Bailey against Hudgins. Their battle over labels and names on the radio this morning demonstrates the challenges for both candidates in the next 24 days.

Urgent -- how many calls can you make right now?

Image
Friend -- It's Election Day, and we all need to call voters for 20 minutes. We know there are millions of people across the country who might not cast their ballots -- unless they hear from someone like you. These people -- whether they vote or not -- will be the difference in the closest races. That's why thousands of supporters are using our call tool after they vote today to make sure these folks get to the polls. You can talk to these people right now. You can remind them of the importance of their voice in this election. You can tell them where their local polling place is -- and when it closes its doors. It's all one click away. Start right now -- because "later" will be too late. Can you take 20 minutes to call some of these voters in key districts? This election will determine the direction our country takes over the next two years. Once the polls close, we can only watch the results come in. Those results are being determined right no

Let's Beat the Billionaires - Vote Straight Democratic

Matthews, Jr. Date: Mon, 1 Nov 2010 11:48:58 -0400 Subject: Let's Beat the Billionaires - Vote Straight Democratic From: activist@democrats.com To: danmatt@hotmail.com Message body Dear Dan, A handful of powerful rightwing billionaires are trying to buy Congress. Who will stop them? The Corporate Media won't. The most powerful man in Corporate Media - FOX chairman Rupert Murdoch (right) - is also the most powerful rightwing billionaire. First he turned FOX into 24x7x365 rightwing Republican propaganda. Then he hired the top Republicans like Karl Rove and Sarah Palin as "analysts." Then he used his hosts to raise millions for Republicans, both on-air and at their fundraisers. Then he gave millions directly to Republicans, both from his corporation and from his own pocket. What about the rest of the Corporate Media? Last week ABC hired Andrew Breitbart - the video liar most infamous for the vicious Shirley Sherrod a

Tomorrow

Image
Friend -- Tomorrow, you can help determine not just the outcome of this election, but our country's future. You made the difference in 2008. Now, once again, you can defy the conventional wisdom that says you can't overcome the cynicism of our politics; you can't overcome the special interests and the big money; you can't tackle our biggest challenges. This movement has never backed down from a tough fight -- and we're not about to start. Over the next two years, we've got to keep moving America forward -- but I need allies in office to make it happen. The ballot you cast in 2008 was a crucial first step. Thank you for that. I need you to make sure you get at least three of your friends to vote with you -- it is simply the most important thing you can do to make sure we can keep bringing about change. Find your polling place and the time polls are open here. If you haven't yet voted, please think through how and when you will do so. When

Bikers go 300 miles in 30 hours | The Red and Black

Here is yet another organized bike ride that I am pretty sure did not get approval by the Oconee County Board of Commissioners before embarking from Watkinsville - just saying that dozens of people bike daily all over Oconee and much more than the casual observer or government official (with the exception of one or two Brian) have no clue whatsoever about. I would love to be able to bike to Oconee Veterans Park without taking my life into my hands (and that of all the other drivers on the streets). Bikers go 300 miles in 30 hours | The Red and Black

This vast Georgia watershed includes all the branches of the Oconee River locally as the northern headwaters of this beautiful network of riparian streams, creeks, ponds and assorted springs and lakes as well as the traditional perception as merely rivers and better known waterways. Following in the shoes of James Holland is a mighty tough act to follow, as I think James Holland should be Governor, but Sonja Cox sounds like she is ready to get her boots wet running. And if you make a plan and let us know today, we'll send you a reminder and help you stick with it, even if you end up running late or are busier than you expected. In the next half hour

Friend -- A couple things are going to happen in the next half hour. Partisan attack ads funded by big banks and big oil will air over and over on national cable television. Outrageous right-wing smear messages will arrive in inboxes around the country. And dozens of voters in your area will make a decision about whether they'll be voting in this year's election. They're people who might not currently be planning on making it to the polls in two days. They're people who might not know what's at stake -- who might not know the choice we all have in this election. All of that is happening in the next 30 minutes. The only question is, will you be the person who changes the equation by picking up the phone and calling just 10 voters today? If each one of us calls just 10 voters in our area right now -- it could make a huge difference at the polls on Election Day. Grab your phone and click here to connect with voters in your area righ
