Letter from Lake Oconee resident to Congressman Paul Broun

Image
One of the Oconee County Democratic Committee members Pat Adams sent me this letter today. I do not know the person who wrote it. But it is a well written letter, I do not know what Congressman Paul Broun's reaction would be February 4, 2011 An Open Letter to   Paul C. Broun Dear Paul, Repeal the new healthcare law?   Deny funding for the new healthcare law?   Are you kidding?   You need to try as hard as possible to imagine you and your family without health insurance facing a medical crisis, just like many of the people in your district do.   Is this what you want for your constituents – uncertainty and possibility of financial ruin because of no health insurance?   (What about the 700,000 Americans who declare bankruptcy each year because they can’t afford to pay their medical bills?) Instead of trying to repeal the limited gains the American people have achieved in the newly passed healthcare law, why don’t you try to expand the government’s r...

Teabaggers toss N-word at Congressman John Lewis

Raw, seething racial hatred exposed the Teabagger mobs in Washington DC today as the bigots they are as Georgia congressman John Lewis was called "Nigger" at least 15 times outside of a Congressional hearing as the Nation awaits an historic healthcare vote tomorrow. What is next? Lynching the President? I think there are some dumb ass redneck peckerwoods in need of some serious mental healthcare who will probably be amongst the the 34 million eligible tomorrow. A final vote on health reform message from our Commander In Chief

Image
Friend -- Last Thursday's first-of-its-kind summit capped off a debate that has lasted nearly a year. Every idea has now been put on the table. Every argument has been made. Both parties agree that the status quo is unacceptable and gets more dire each day. Today, I want to state as clearly and forcefully as I know how: Now is the time to make a decision about the future of health care in America. The final proposal I've put forward draws on the best ideas from all sides, including several put forward by Republicans at last week's summit. It will put Americans in charge of their own health care, ensuring that neither government nor insurance company bureaucrats can ration, deny, or put out of financial reach the care our families need and deserve. I strongly believe that Congress now owes the American people a final vote on health care reform. Reform has already passed the House with bipartisan support and the Senate with a super-majority of sixty votes. Now it dese...

Call your Senators and Representatives for Jenny

Image
This takes all of five minutes top over your lunch hour or break if you can do this today. Thanks! Be polite and firm and realize these calls are largely symbolic but important. Woven brightly,  Daniel J. Matthews, Jr. From: info@barackobama.com Subject: Call for Jenny Organizing for America Dan -- Jenny U. from Missouri did what any parent would: When her son needed a kidney, she donated one of hers. But she didn't realize insurance companies would use her kindness as an excuse to never cover her again, calling her donation a "pre-existing condition." Now, insurance companies are spending millions on a campaign of lies to kill health reform that would help folks like Jenny. So, today, with crucial negotiations taking place in Congress, we're raising our voices and making it clear: It's time to deliver on reform. We've set a big goal: 100,000 calls to Congress made or committed to in a single day. To hit it, we'll need your help -- will...

J.P. Crisan: U.S. health care socialized now | Letters | OnlineAthens.com

This person and his wife were heckled by some neighbors of mine at the rally Saturday morning. He made the best sign and writes an eloquent letter to the editor in today's Athens Banner-Herald. J.P. Crisan: U.S. health care socialized now | Letters | OnlineAthens.com Shared via AddThis

Broun to host health care forum at the Oconee County Civic Center 10 am Tuesday, September 8th

Sounds like another chance for people to butt heads, or at least let their opinions be heard. Let's hope the stunts and screaming are kept civil and at a minimum. I am more than willing to give Congressman Broun my opinion, but I will be working at the time to pay for my ridiculously expensive Blue Cross Blue Shield premiums. Let the onslaught commence

Oconee County Sheriff Scott Berry is a true professional law enforcement provider and is talking to both sides of the aisle before the protests start Saturday morning at Oconee Veterans Park near Watkinsville near what some once labeled the Eastville area of unincorporated Oconee County, Georgia. Berry, an acknowledged Republican, responded quickly to a fax to come to the library a day early at the total fault of this writer, when in fact the Oconee County Democratic Committee is meeting Thursday evening at the Library to make signs for their counter demonstration supporting President Barack Obama's efforts at health care reform. They will appear at the front of the park as to not curry complete confrontation with their conservative counterparts contemplating ways at killing any attempts at health care reform. "Y'all are not the ones I am worried about," quipped Berry to Veit late Wednesday evening. Apparently the Sheriff was going to try to talk with the local GOP le...
