Deal folds on casinos || OnlineAthens.com

I was shocked when Deal even initially considered casinos in Georgia, so it make sense he should have no spine and cave in to his hardcore conservative Christian cohorts about having an open mind about anything. Incidentally, about the only issue to be really giving Suzy Compere some true political traction in the 113th House race has been horse racing. With the addition of the new UGA equestrian facility near Bishop, the 113th may be one of the most influential horse-centric districts in Georgia (most areas of extreme North Fulton and Forsyth County notwithstanding). I for one think all potential income streams for our government should be considered. 10 years ago the notion of a Falcons scratch off card seemed pretty distant and darn near impossible. The Georgia Lottery even brings us the Bulldogs sports show on WSB-TV. Deal folds on casinos || OnlineAthens.com

PolitiFact Georgia | Congressman sides with "sexual deviants" with no vote, opponent says

Last night I attended a fabulous fundraiser for Russell Edwards at Ashford Manor Bed and Breakfast in Watkinsville with a lot of people who do not usually attend these kind of events. It was $100.00 a ticket at the door, and I attended with my son immediately after soccer practice, and we were both a hot mess. I do not usually attend these kind of gatherings either but was somewhat bothered at the distinct lack of publicity and invitations to this event. Now I am to blame as I have had to miss the most recent Oconee County Democratic Committee meeting, but I could honestly say I told a number of people to attend at the last second Thursday through the usual social media. Now given a few days notice, I am sure I could have increased the attendance even more, but that is just my very slight admonition to the folks who put this event together. Perhaps they wanted a low key event with medium turnout? PolitiFact Georgia | Congressman sides with "sexual deviants" with no vote, opp

Just glad we are not more confused with South Carolina Woven brightly,  Daniel J. Matthews, Jr. From: jveit@bellsouth.net Date: Wed, 25 Aug 2010 13:01:09 +0000 Subject: [oconee] I received a phone call from News Corp. (Fox News)   The strangest thing happened last night. I have to share it. Around 10 pm the phone rang with a weird number beginning with "129". I usually don't pick up when it's not a number I recognize, but because of the late hour, I did. Young lady with a British accent greets me. Says she's Heather from News Corp. Is calling to ask me if I attended the Alvin Green event in Oconee County, and to ask my opinion. Well, for those that don't know it, Alvin Green is the controversial Democratic Senate candidate in South Carolina. I recognized immediately that she was confusing Oconee County, Georgia with Oconee County, South Carolina.I also recognize immediately that she Googled Oconee County Democrats and came up with my name and n

Stadion re-ups with local Nationwide stop || OnlineAthens.com

Perhaps we should put "Whitehall" in the golf tournament name instead? I am glad they are coming back, even with a shorter name for the next level of elite golfers. One of them won on the big boys tour this past weekend. More seriously, various local business interests have been plotting and scheming to get their hands on the kind of gold returns that Stadion did share with local non-profits ever since the idea was first floated for this tourney almost 10 years ago now. This online ticket designation charity function is and was a very cool idea, and I wholeheartedly endorse the local business sponsoring the tourney through '11.
