Democratic Party of Georgia Communications Director Eric Gray attends Oconee County Democratic Committee meeting

Image
Eric Gray, Communications Director, Democratic Party of Georgia The Oconee County Democratic Committee enjoyed swelled ranks last night during their regular March monthly meeting at the Government Annex on Greensboro Highway on the heels of the very successful "fun"-raiser at Krimson Kafe a fortnight back with former candidate for Labor Commissioner Darryl Hicks. We were also quite pleasantly surprised to welcome the Communications Director of the Democratic Party of Georgia in Eric Gray. He answered every one of our sharp and pointed questions succinctly and honestly and is certainly welcome back anytime. Gray even called others to try to answer our questions about certain obscure procedures for the delegate selection process in Madison at Morgan County High School next month. The biggest news to come out of the meeting was the resignation of acting director Ann Hudson Stoneburner and the resumption of yours truly as director. This move was long contemplated and quic...

Successful clean up for Oconee Connector on MLK Jr. Day

Image
A half dozen hearty souls bared rain and the remnants of snow to pick up a gazillion cigarette butts and assorted debris along side the Oconee Connector essentially between the Golden Pantry and the Quick Trip. This clean up was rescheduled from Saturday because of the snow on the side of the road. Not all had melted by Monday. Melissa Steele, Pat Priest, Sara Jane Love, Dan Matthews, and Robert Wyatt Many thanks to the volunteers including Mary Mellein, Sara Jane Love, Pat Priest, Melissa Steele, Ann Stoneburner, Dr. Robert Wyatt and Dan Matthews for coming out on a soggy holiday. The group met at the Barber Creek Fire Station and divided up and picked up trash on both sides of the road, one group heading toward the busy Highway 316 and the other past the Quick Trip and the Golden Pantry. The smart and experienced people brought bags and clean up tools to pick up the trash near the side of the roads. The oncoming traffic kept the volunteers dodging vehicles to grab the wrappers...

Saturday Stroll tomorrow offers more artsy view of Watkinsville with Joe Ruiz of OCAF

Image
Hello! There's another especially interesting Saturday Stroll coming up -- this very weekend (August 8th) at 9 AM -- that I thought you might like to know about. If you've ever wondered about the history of the buildings and garden that comprise the Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation complex, here's your chance to tour them with the non-profit's wonderful director, Joe Ruiz. And it's a neat opportunity, too, because the stroll will take you from the Courthouse along School Street, where there's a collection of vibrant and diverse public art displayed all along the way. We meet at the Courthouse (23 North Main Street) in Watkinsville and start off right about 9:00 am. No need to pre-register. The funds raised ($5 per person) will go to OCAF this week. Please wear comfortable shoes and perhaps bring a hat for this hour-long (or so) tour, as we'll really be strolling this week! For more information about this week's stroll, contact Ann Stoneburner ahstoneburne...
