Rose Creek Stewardship CLEAN UP!

Image
Subject: Rose Creek Stewardship CLEAN UP! Hi Friends! Here is your friendly reminder about our Rose Creek Stewardship Roadside (and creek) litter clean up as a part of Keep Oconee Clean and Beautiful Commissions GREAT OCONEE CLEAN UP!   Click on that link to see the story I wrote for Patch, and why Melvin Davis wants us to step up our efforts for this event.  It's an interesting story! The event takes place all over Oconee County on April 21st, but because I will be involved in those efforts on that day, I have scheduled our ROSE CREEK STEWARDSHIP clean up the Sunday before, on April 15. I HOPE YOU WILL PARTICIPATE IN BOTH EVENTS, but at the very least, let's get our area litter free! I am hoping that you will meet me at The Covered Bridge at 2:00 on Sunday April 15 and we can sort out the rest of the details from there. I will have safety vests, bags, gloves (I think) and pick up sticks, and also orange cones to help keep us safe in our efforts...

Make Oconee Beautiful!

Subject: Make Oconee Beautiful! Hi Everybody! Since you all were responsible for our Rose Creek Clean Up being so successful, I thought you might want to take part in this event as well!   Keeping Oconee Clean and Beautiful Commission, in association with Keep America Beautiful, has organized this county wide event!    I will be there and I am hoping to gather a group to work along Elder Mill Road, Saxon Road, and Antioch Church Road.  We got about 60% of Elder Mill Road covered last time, but there is still trash washing downhill towards Little Rose and Big Rose Creeks..  Would LOVE to see any of you guys!   Thanks and PLEASE pass this on! Mob squad wants to scour Harris Shoals clean April 24th

The latest incarnation of Keep Oconee County (Clean and) Beautiful will attempt to clean up all the garbage in Watkinsville's Harris Shoals Park in what they are marketing as M ake O conee B eautiful or MOB squad. They are engineering an attack 9:00 am Saturday morning, April 24, 2010 with bags and gloves furnished. April is, after all, litter clean up month. I would suggest they splinter an expedition across that ridiculously busy Experiment Station Road and pick up garbage in that no man's land over there too as there appears to be a bunch of refuse strewn about the creek and the steep and rocky walls.  They need your help, and you will be reminded several dozen times between now and then. You can call Keep Ocone County Beautiful Commission at 706-310-3525 or email at clean&beautiful@oconee.ga.us

Help Preserve the Keep Oconee County Beautiful Commission

Mary Mellein is a friend of mine who has run for office before and been involved in numerous Oconee County residents' efforts, and I generally support just about everything she does. I do not want to see the elimination of the Keep Oconee County Clean and Beautiful Commisson either and urge you to let your Commissioners know of your decision to support this important citizens committee. I also do not want to the Board of Commissioners jack up the registration fees for the Recreation Department activities either. I am afraid that is what they are going to do. Sounds like it is a job for our concerned voters to voice their opinions as soon as possible.
