Got a phone?

Friend -- There's something we all need to do. Please click this link -- right now. A person's name and phone number are going to come up on the screen. You'll see where this person's from -- it'll likely be a town somewhere in your state -- and how old they are. Right now, all across the country, thousands of us are doing what you just did. Then, we're picking up our phones, and we're dialing the number beneath the name. And then -- along with those reaching out to folks from the doorsteps and the sidewalks -- we're starting a conversation. It's incredibly powerful. We're calling today "Change by the Million" -- because we know this is absolutely the most effective way we can reach people. And together, we'll reach out to folks 1 million times before the day ends. But to do that, we all have to pitch in. Click here now to get started. At first, the name that appears is just that -- letters on a screen. Look harder.

Friend -- I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you. I know many of you are volunteering for this campaign, giving time that is hard to come by. I know you're also giving what you can afford to fuel our work, even though that's also hard for so many. But you believe in what the President is trying to do to move this country forward. And we believe in you. Thank you again, Joe Paid for by Organizing for America, a project of the Democratic National Committee -- 430 South Capitol Street SE, Washington, D.C. 20003. I want to meet you

Image
Friend -- Two years ago, I met 10 of you. Just before I accepted our party's nomination in front of 80,000 people in Denver, I spoke with 10 grassroots supporters who had won a trip to meet me backstage. I still remember the time we spent together -- because these are the people, like you, who stood with me in 2008, and got me through the tough fights since. But we face another test on November 2nd that will say a lot about our future -- and I need you by my side again. A Supreme Court decision I strongly disagree with has shifted the balance of power in our elections from folks like you to giant corporations. Their massive spending on attack ads could have a real impact on who represents you at all levels of government. Only supporters like you -- and all the work you are doing -- are standing in their way. This may be our toughest fight yet. So next week, just 11 days before the elections, I want to meet three supporters like you backstage at a rally in Las Vegas

5th District Fiasco in Athens reaches out to Watkinsville as well

This is one of the more pathetic episodes in a long history of overblown political fiascoes in Athens and Oconee County. First I have to add the disclaimers. I do work for attorney and 5th district Athens-Clarke County commission candidate Dave Hudgins, but am not working on his campaign, nor do I live or vote in the 5th District. Second I have known and worked with Jared Bailey at least 20 and maybe closer to 30 years in the Athens music scene and AthFest. Third I coach the 10 year old son of Bailey's girlfriend and have known her possibly longer than Jared and been to their house (not all that far from mine) on numerous occasions. This story by Dave Marr did reveal several interesting facts that I did not know, including the police report in Watkinsville. We are a tight knit community and do notice when people are taking photos or hanging out in the woods near our houses. The following paragraph illustrates the small town nature of Watkinsville and the fact that I broke the r

UGA law students testing the waters with real-world Environmental lessons || OnlineAthens.com

Once upon a time not all that long ago Calls Creek running through Harris Shoals Park in Watkinsville was one of the more polluted streams in the area. Recently the Watkinsville City Council and city hired engineers have made plans to try and shore up the crumbling stream bank and take other steps to revitalize the area with SPLOST funds. It is highly commendable of the University of Georgia law students to wade into the real world experience of getting their feet and hands wet with practical applications of the Georgia code to our waterways. A second Sustainability Showcase sponsored by Oconee County Democratic Committee October 24

The event will take place from 3 to 5 on Sunday, October 24th. See the information below about this fun and informative event that showcases Democrats' concern for the environment, green jobs, and the increased national security that comes from greater independence from oil and the electric grid. If you can help that day, please let me know. We'll have informational stations set up -- and we could use drivers willing to ferry people in their hybrid or bio-diesel cars. Friend -- When the dust settles after election night, we'll wake up to one of two realities. Democrats in Congress could return to Washington to continue moving America forward. Or this fall's crop of extremist Republican candidates could be in charge, unafraid to shut down the government or jam up the gears of progress. We have 23 days until Election Day -- and the reality we'll face the morning of November 3rd is still in our hands. If you want to have a say in that outcome, join other OFA supporters in making calls to voters using our newly revamped call tool. We have an ambitious goal -- reach out to voters 15 million times before the elections -- but this is what it takes to ensure Democrats keep fighting for change. Use our new call tool to reach out to 10 voters today? Thousands of OFA volunteers and organizers are already making calls all around the country -- but we can't sit on the sidelines and hope their work is enough. We've incor
