FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (for more information 706-372-1062) The Oconee County Democratic Committee proudly welcomes Jerry Gonzalez of the Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials and the only announced Democratic candidate for the US Senate seat to succeed Saxby Chambliss next year in Dr. Branko Radulovacki to their Multi-County Gathering at Ashford on Main, 7 South Main Street, 7 to 8:30 pm, Thursday, June 20 in a decidedly informal "non-meeting" format where also a dozen recipients of the first "Outstanding Oconee County Contributor" awards will be presented. Democratic committee members from Oglethorpe, Clarke, Greene, Barrow, Morgan, and other areas have been invited to this regional get-together. You need not be a Democrat nor an Oconee County resident to attend. Finger food from area restaurants and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided. It's really worth reading to learn the details, for example, about how Reagan himself -- despite the strong reservations of his Cabinet -- pushed for armed support for the Contras in Nicaragua although that was explicitly prohibited by Congress and how deeply he was involved in the secret arms sales to Khomeini in Iran. There would be a lot less lionizing of Reagan if American citizens read this book. But there's much more to the book, too -- for example, a worrisome section on our nuclear stockpile. Okay!
