Former YWCO childcare director and current CEO of Champions for Children daycare owner Katy Arrowood is contemplating a run at the new 113th House of Representatives seat vacated by new Chancellor-designate Hank Huckaby. Her father Earl O'Neal was a Statehouse member representing parts of metro Atlanta. Arrowood is also a former President of the Rotary Club.

With that being said, we still have a threat of strong thunderstorms (Supercell storms) this afternoon/evening.  These storms are capable of damaging winds, lighting and hail. We've got at least 45 finalists and their guests coming, but we could use more Moore's Ford people to bear witness. We had 47 applications this year, a record number.    My apologies for running late with invitations. Have been busy with rentals this Spring and working on global climate change - a new focus for me.    But please know...the Moore's Ford Memorial Committee still lives. Our scholarship program is alive and growing.       In addition, at our May 12 meeting, we will review a proposal to co-host, with others, "The Gathering," yet another meeting of grass roots, memorial groups from around the country that have successfully revisited and memorialized their own histories of racial violence. Last March we all banded together to clean up roadsides and creek banks along Elder Mill Road, Big Rose Creek, and Little Rose creek.  We collected 85 pounds of trash and a whopping 220 pounds of recyclable materials! I was so thrilled and honored that you all wanted to be a part of that project, which is attached to my upcoming art exhibit.
