Oconee County residents open vegan restaurant in Athens

There seems to be somewhat of an assumption by both ends of foodie crowd (omnivores vs. vegheads) as to what vegan restaurants should be and should not be. Glad to say Oconee County residents Juan and Vanessa Molina have moved back to town to detonate all preconceived notions of what you expect vegan to taste like. I love eating food to expand my bland culinary history, and welcome any chance to eat well with positive impact locally and in my body. I am not a Vegan, but I like to eat my vegetables as much as anybody. Go eat there, in the old Walter's BBQ location, and give it a chance.   Grub Notes

TONHS Bonfire Postponement Message from Mayor Beall

It's too damn cold and windy to be setting lit match to kindling outside, even on the shortest day of the year. Be careful and warm around any Yule logs lit. From: +Fred Johnson ilovehighshoals@yahoo.com To: Fred Johnson ilovehighshoals@yahoo.com Sent: Friday, December 21, 2012 2:42 PM Subject: TONHS Bonfire Postponement Message from Mayor Beall Hi, Due to cold temperatures and high wind advisories, I feel it best to cancel this evening's Bonfire / Cookout. Also, The GA Forestry Commission is not issuing burn permits today due to high winds. Perhaps we can reschedule for sometime in the spring. Sorry for any inconvenience. -Mayor Mike Beall
