October book: Frankenstein

Woven brightly, Daniel J. Take time to get out the vote so we can sweep out Paul Broun, Jr.!  ----------------------------------  October 27  The community book group sponsored by the Oconee Democrats will discuss  Mary Shelley's classic "Frankenstein" for its October book.   First published anonymously in 1818, the book is considered one of the  earliest works of science fiction. Some critics contend that the book  is an allegory of the French Revolution. Most see it as a cautionary  tale about science and ethics.  ...

Congressman Broun denies Federal help in local chemical spill

After waiting nearly an hour to ask a question during an unsolicited call to constituents Monday evening, I asked Congressman Paul Broun if he would help Oconee and Clarke counties by getting the US Environmental Protection Agency involved in the clean up or monitoring of the spill at the J&J Chemical Company into Trail Creek and subsequently into the North Oconee River. He declined, stating that the Federal agency defers to the State Agency and was therefore already involved.

Ryan Lewis and Paul Broun make MSNBC

OK, it is the Ed show and not Countdown with Keith Olbermann or the Rachel Maddow show, but I knew some national media would hop on this clip. Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News , World News , and News about the Economy

This has been a rather busy news day in Oconee County, Georgia

Image
The turn out at the Oconee County Civic Center today for 10th District United States Congressman Paul Broun's Town Hall on Health Care was very diverse, packed as much as I have ever seen it for any event, and generally well behaved. I admit I was only there for a very few minutes as it took the better part of my fortunately early lunch hour to get there to snap these few shots. I want to thank Shawn Wheeler at the Oconee County Civic Center for putting this event together with little notice and probably less appreciation. Also Sheriff Scott Berry and his deputies who made sure the unusual parking situation did not get out of hand. I parked near right field at the Warriors baseball stadium. I doubt the Civic Center has seen that many people when school was also in session. They took a potential colossal clusterf*ck and made it work smoothly, perfectly and to the point. People did get rowdy and some blood was flowing stronger coming out then going in. Ryan Lewis tried to pass a ...

Sage advice for people of any political persuasion attending Dr. Broun's Town Hall this morning. Please by kind and considerate, even if the person next or near to you is not being so polite. Please attend Congressman Paul Broun's Health Care Town Hall

I can be there but I hope you make it. This invitation came from the Congressman Paul Broun's office. I implore you to investigate his stance and ask him questions about why he chooses to continue to make insurance companies richer. Woven brightly, Daniel J. Broun to host health care forum at the Oconee County Civic Center 10 am Tuesday, September 8th

Sounds like another chance for people to butt heads, or at least let their opinions be heard. Let's hope the stunts and screaming are kept civil and at a minimum. I am more than willing to give Congressman Broun my opinion, but I will be working at the time to pay for my ridiculously expensive Blue Cross Blue Shield premiums. Much more effective way of letting him know: Visit Rep. Broun's office in Athens

Congressman Paul Broun delivers on stunts and fear tactics telling our mama's going to die when she falls and breaks her hip. Makes one wonder how many patients of Dr. Broun's passed before he lost his medical license. From: Date: August 9, 2009 1:56:34 PM EDT To: Dan Matthews < > Subject: Visit Rep. Broun's office in Athens Reply-To: info@barackobama.com Dan -- Thanks for answering the President's call to support health insurance reform. All throughout August, our members of Congress are back in town. Insurance companies and partisan attack groups are stirring up fear with false rumors about the President's plan, and it's extremely important that folks like you speak up now. So we've cooked up an easy, powerful way for you to make a big impression: Office Visits for Health Reform. All this week, OFA members like you will be stopping by local congressional offices to show our support for insurance reform. You can have a quick convers...

Obamacare a 'rotten fish,' says Broun at town hall | News | OnlineAthens.com

Adding to the misinformation about healthcare and disrespect of our Commander in Chief, U.S. State Representative Paul Broun fueled the paranoia of our older America by stoking the fires of fear in Clarkesville yesterday. His stunts are wearing old quickly. Can we find a candidate to take on this buffoon? Obamacare a 'rotten fish,' says Broun at town hall | News | OnlineAthens.com Shared via AddThis

Dr. Paul Broun bares his racist teeth as worst person in the world

Everytime MSNBC's Keith Olbermann picks out our moronic Congressman as the Worst Person in the World, I keep thinking that voters in the 10th District will suddenly wake up out their collective doldrums and decide we could do a whole lot better and elect someone with a brain, but then the cruel hand of fate slaps me upside the head and reminds me that ignorance is sometimes bliss here. Congressman Broun has slipped to a new low even for him here, and I shake my head in sadness and pity. Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News , World News , and News about the Economy

Tell Rep. Broun: Impeach the judge who authorized Bush torture.

Ask Rep. Paul Broun to impeach Judge who permitted illegal torture by US

Subject: Tell Congress: Impeach Judge Jay Bybee. Dear Friend, When presidents and federal judges take office, they must swear to support and defend the Constitution. But federal judge Jay Bybee worked long and hard to undermine the Bill of Rights - and to make sure that President George W. Bush could do the same. On March 2, the Justice Department released a series of legal memos, some authored by Jay Bybee, that made a mockery of the Constitution, and gave the Bush Administration legal cover to wiretap Americans without court approval, to send prisoners oversees where they were likely to be tortured, to use U.S. military forces for domestic purposes, and a number of other actions that previously would have been considered unconstitutional. For his service, Bybee was rewarded by the Bush administration with a federal judgeship. Working Assets (now CREDO) worked to oppose that nomination, but only 19 senators sided with us, and Bybee was overwhelmingly confirmed. Now that we know the ex...

Open letter to Paul Broun from Sally Adair of Oglethorpe County

Image
Wow, I am watching the Republican party implode every day in new ways I could never imagine. This is a letter to our Congressman from a constituent in the 10th District of Georgia. Will all this increase the turnout on either side of the aisle? Of course I think it will help the Democratic candidates of Jim Powell and Jim Martin. Three full time Obama staffers (two moved in since the General Election) are in Athens alone so let's see what we can get done. I think the Republican Party have provided a once in a lifetime opportunity here so we damn sure need to take full advantage of it. Keep talking about Paul Broun. I think there were four letters to the editor today and Jay Hamilton of Oconee County wrote a great one yesterday in the Athens Banner-Herald. The Oconee Enterprise wrote a very good story about Carl McGrath, Barb Eza and Patricia Priest volunteer efforts for the Obama campaign in Oconee County in different ways. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton could be another great c...
