Congressman Paul Broun Jr.'s son busted in Athens on three counts Friday

From today's Athens Clarke County Sheriff's report: This is the son of our esteemed 10th district Congressman Paul Broun, Jr. and it is not his first brush with the law. His nickname is Bear and he was in trouble as an Athens Academy juvenile for drinking under age. I certainly hope he works out his problems, but I would expect the Athens Banner-Herald to have written something about this by now. How this does or does not effect Congressman Broun's race against Russell Edwards in the 10th district remains to be seen, but Congressman Broun certainly preaches a "holier-than-thou" attitude despite his four marriages and bankruptcies. In the recent past former Georgia Lt. Gov. Mark Taylor's son was popped in South Carolina on a DUI-vehicular homicide charge and many people considered that to be a game changer in his last race. 6692 92510 36 BROUN PAUL COLLINS III 19 W M ACCPD 90 92510 203 LIC/EXHIB ON DEMAND M MUNCT AARON BONDING POSTED 500.00 66692 92510

Friend -- In the last two years, it's been supporters like you who've redefined what it means to be a Democrat. There's a renewed commitment toward organizing -- which you helped instill with the campaign in 2008. That's why Democrats have launched the most ambitious voter-turnout effort we've ever seen for an election like the one this fall. There's a renewed commitment toward taking on the special interests and opposing their agenda -- a promise you've helped us keep time and time again. And even though we don't take money from lobbyists or corporate PACs, we're still raising more money than the Republicans, month after month. With this renewed focus, the Democrats have introduced a new website filled with innovations to better connect supporters with candidates, state parties, and each other -- and a new look to match that message. With just weeks to go in a critical election season, we want to help show that moving this country forwa

Ga. 400 tolls to be extended to 2020  | ajc.com

Remember which party lied to you on this one, Georgia, hint it was not the Democratic party, it is the Republicans who reneged on their pledge to stop tolls on 400 once the debt was paid. Republicans have quadrupled the costs on legal fees, adoptions and notary licenses, among others things. Tax and spend Republicans need to go. Ga. 400 tolls to be extended to 2020 Â | ajc.com

This is health reform

Image
Friend -- After a century of struggle and a year of debate, health insurance reform became law six months ago today -- and this week, key provisions of the Affordable Care Act take effect. This is possible only because you -- and millions of Organizing for America supporters and volunteers -- stood up and said, enough. Even when the fight seemed all but lost, we continued to organize, call Congress, knock on doors, and do everything we could to keep reform alive. But behind these historic changes are real people and real families. Their stories are important reminders that health reform couldn't wait -- and we can't give up on moving this country forward. Too much is at stake. Meet Patrick, Kay, and Kristin:     Patrick is a single dad in Rockport, Maine. When he lost his job as a boat builder, he lost his health coverage, and paid out of pocket when his 14-year-old daughter required surgery for scoliosis. Pat has since found a new job, an

Commission uncertain on Oconee annex plans || OnlineAthens.com

The Oconee County Democratic Committee meets in the Governmental Annex for its monthly meetings, and among other things that go on in this hideously designed building are adult literacy and the place you to pay your water bill. The room the Democratic Committee meets is actually a Federal Government meeting spot for Department of Agricultural concerns with photographic portraits of President Barack Obama and Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack on the wall. The Governmental Annex also has Emergency Services and the place where Watkinsville South does its voting. It is hard to believe that the entire Oconee County Government once functioned here during the renovation of the Courthouse. Whatever decision is made, the concerns and continued work of the groups hidden here should be tantamount to all other complaints, including expense. Making sure the groups can continue to meet and function while the renovations take place is the most important facet of the entire process. Commission uncertain on Oc

Message body Far-right candidates, backed by corporate cash, are close to winning Congress. That's why we're organizing "Stop the Takeover" call parties on October 2nd and 3rd to recruit election volunteers—as part of the huge "One Nation" weekend of action.  Can you host a party in Watkinsville? Click here Dear MoveOn member, It's a terrifying combination: Tea party extremism and unprecedented amounts of corporate cash. The far-right wing of the Republican Party is threatening to take control of Congress—and unseat some of our leading progressive heroes along the way. We simply can't afford to stand by and let this takeover happen . The Republicans may have hundreds of millions in corporate campaign cash, but we can still beat
