Congressman Paul Broun Jr.'s son busted in Athens on three counts Friday

From today's Athens Clarke County Sheriff's report:

This is the son of our esteemed 10th district Congressman Paul Broun, Jr. and it is not his first brush with the law. His nickname is Bear and he was in trouble as an Athens Academy juvenile for drinking under age. I certainly hope he works out his problems, but I would expect the Athens Banner-Herald to have written something about this by now. How this does or does not effect Congressman Broun's race against Russell Edwards in the 10th district remains to be seen, but Congressman Broun certainly preaches a "holier-than-thou" attitude despite his four marriages and bankruptcies.

In the recent past former Georgia Lt. Gov. Mark Taylor's son was popped in South Carolina on a DUI-vehicular homicide charge and many people considered that to be a game changer in his last race.

I am a great believer in not visiting the sins of the Father on the Son, and vice versa. I find it deeply offensive rather than actually challenge Paul Broun Jr on a policy level, you are talking about his son.

Is this where we have come to in politics. Regardless of whether you do not like Paul Broun Jr or whether you do and it is obvious you do not, bringing his son into it, to me smacks of desperation.

Russell Edwards will win or fail on his platform, not on what his opponents son is accused of. To bring any family member into a political equation, when they have not involved themselves, to me is wrong.

It makes me question whether the Democratic Party is so desperate for votes, that they would rather fail to pursue the positives of their own candidate and would instead use smear tactics instead.
