Run Off Election Forum 7:00 pm Thursday, June 30 at Oconee Civic Center

Oconee Chamber to host political debate for Statehouse District 113 June 23, 2011 Contacts: Chamber Board Chairman, Mike McCleary ( mjm@fbglaw.com )  Chamber President J. R. Whitfield ( jrwhitfield@occoc.org ) The Oconee County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a political debate Thursday, June 30th at the Oconee Civic Center Theatre. The evening’s event gets underway at 6:30 p.m. with a half-hour-long, meet-and-greet session with the candidates.  The live radio broadcast will be a debate which begins at 7:00 pm lasts until 8:00 pm. Tim Bryant will moderate the forum.  He is news director for Cox Broadcasting’s Newstalk 1340 WGAU, 106.1 WNGC and FM Newstalk 103.7 WXKT in Athens. Many thanks in advance to Russ Page and Lee Becker for organizing the forum this evening at the Oconee County Library on Experiment Station Road (State Route 53) in Watkinsville for the House Special Election for District 113. I am looking forward to listening to and answering the questions of the concerned voters of the District. We will also have signs and bumper stickers for those who are interested in displaying those.

Advance voting and absentee ballots available for residents of Athens-Clarke County

Elections News Posted on: May 31, 2011 Absentee Voting Now Available for Special Election Absentee voting is now available in Athens-Clarke County for the electors residing in Georgia House District 113. "In person" voting is being held Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. through June 17, 2011. "Mail-out" ballots must be requested in writing and mailed or faxed to the Board of Elections office. Ballots may be mailed out through Friday, June 17, 2011.

Pictures from Winterville Marigold Festival

I really enjoyed campaigning in Winterville at the Marigold Festival last weekend. This was really the first event of my fledging campaign for the House District 113 Special Election (EARLY VOTING BEGINS WEDNESDAY), and I owe this opportunity to Mark Farmer, city council for Winterville who hooked me up with the right folks for the Marigold Festival organizers. The organizers were extremely competent and welcoming, making every one I met feel like they were right at home. I finally met Alan Alexander face to face and a couple of children and returned some signs he had given me before my getting in the race. He drove around in a red convertible while I was walking it with my son. I have talked to him on the telephone many times at work, and he has a deep recognizable voice. It was amazing seeing all the people gathered on the square and fun to meet the people in the parade. That was without a doubt the quickest mile I have ever walked.
