Oxendine: Georgia will not participate in health insurance pool  | ajc.com

So let's review, shall we? Mired in its worst economic downturn since the depression, the Insurance Commissioner-cum-candidate for Republican nominee for Governor John Oxendine will not allow the people of his state of Georgia select insurance from a Federally mandated pool designed to give a relatively small slice of the non-insured some option. That noise you are hearing are the last rats scurrying off the increasingly fast sinking ship of the SS G.O.P. in Georgia.  Even stalwart conservative blogger Erick Erickson seems to agree with me on this obituary . Tell your representative who you're fighting for

Friend -- "I'm here for Natoma." That's what President Obama wrote us yesterday about Natoma Canfield, an Ohio woman whose story helped inspire the President and the nation to keep fighting for reform. As we speak, each member of Congress is preparing to cast their last vote on health reform, while insurance-company lobbyists bombard D.C. with a million-dollar-a-day campaign of distortions and threats. To break through in these final moments, we must show Congress why we'll never forget the choice they make: Because we're fighting for the people who matter most in our lives. So today, we've launched a new tool to help OFA supporters show Congress the names of the people who drive us to support reform. It might be a sick father. Maybe it's a friend who lost her job. Or maybe it's a daughter who simply deserves to grow up knowing that affordable care is always within reach. Whoever you know that's inspired you to fight for reform, the ...

Call your Senators and Representatives for Jenny

Image
This takes all of five minutes top over your lunch hour or break if you can do this today. Thanks! Be polite and firm and realize these calls are largely symbolic but important. Woven brightly,  Daniel J. Matthews, Jr. From: info@barackobama.com Subject: Call for Jenny Organizing for America Dan -- Jenny U. from Missouri did what any parent would: When her son needed a kidney, she donated one of hers. But she didn't realize insurance companies would use her kindness as an excuse to never cover her again, calling her donation a "pre-existing condition." Now, insurance companies are spending millions on a campaign of lies to kill health reform that would help folks like Jenny. So, today, with crucial negotiations taking place in Congress, we're raising our voices and making it clear: It's time to deliver on reform. We've set a big goal: 100,000 calls to Congress made or committed to in a single day. To hit it, we'll need your help -- will...
