Fwd: Oconee Voters and Development

Begin forwarded message: From: Lee Becker < lbbecker48@gmail.com > Date: January 1, 2011 5:58:45 PM EST To: lbbecker@mindspring.com Subject: Oconee Voters and Development Dear Friends,  While Oconee County residents are concerned about the local economy, unemployment and the weak housing market, a significant number also is concerned with growth. Some see a connection between the unwanted growth and the decline in the values of their homes and blame county policies for both. While it is clear that not all voters are opposed to development, the opinions of a significant number of citizens are at odds with the strongly pro-development policy articulated by county leaders. This conclusion comes from my analysis of responses of 149 registered voters to a scientific survey conducted late last year. Where should we send your card, from the President?

Friend -- Every day, I am proud to work with OFA supporters across the country -- which is why I wanted to make sure you saw the Vice President's email below. President Obama will be sending thank-you notes to supporters, and he'd like to send one to you. If you haven't already, sign up here to get yours: http://my.barackobama.com/ThankYouCard Thanks, Mitch -----------------Original Message----------------- From: Joe Biden Subject: We want to say thank you, with a note Friend -- I've been in Washington for almost 40 years. I've seen a lot of Congresses come and go. But I can't remember a group of lawmakers who accomplished more than the folks who just wrapped up their work. With their help, we repealed "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" and ratified the START arms control treaty. We passed a new law to rein in the abuses on Wall Street and protect consumers. We reformed the health care system and passed the Recovery Act t...

Sen. Brown’s comments stir talk of Ku Klux Klan - Politics - Macon.com

I was unaware of the seemingly over-reaching comments until a re-tweet yesterday from Oconee County Republican chair Jay Hanley of Erik Erickson's general condemnation of the midnight meetings with white sheets comment from Senator Brown. Well written assessment of the state of Georgia politics right now. Personally I have always felt that the recycling centers in Oconee County need not be staffed and should be open 24/7/365-6. But I understand the need for help especially for the elderly when it comes to recycling. I am grateful for Watkinsville allowing and even advocating single stream recycling along with their garbage pick up by Curbside. http://www.curbsideservices.net/index.html Co-op donates land for collection center || OnlineAthens.com

Friend -- I've been in Washington for almost 40 years. We reformed the health care system and passed the Recovery Act to get our economy growing again. But do you know why all that happened? Because people like you rolled up your sleeves, dug deep, and decided to make a difference. We had a dedicated group of lawmakers -- no doubt -- but they were supported every step of the way by folks from all across this country who were ready for change. People like you. I know how much that means to me. And I can't even begin tell you how much it means to the President. So here's the deal: President Obama wants to send...

Just as easily as having an Athens-centric district, we could just as soon see an Albany-centric district. Of course both of those hypotheses would benefit the Georgia Democratic Party so Republicans will never let that happen http://www.albanyherald.com/home/headlines/Redistricting_a_formidable_task_for_2011_112460969.html
