Drizzle doesn't keep crowds away from fall festival

The oconee county fall festival was well attended as usual even buy politicians running for congress and agriculture secretary and other offices. baloons t-shirts free samples were all over the place. One vendor who sold me a overpriced glass of lemonade and a Philly cheesesteak decided it was important to argue with me about what kind of cheese goes on a legitimate Philly cheesesteak and then denied me napkins along the way. We bought our usual assorted books and ancient fossils from the Karwoski family,  who enjoyed an expanded line up of goods and stone carvings. Gail inscribed a copy of her book Seaman about the dog who accompanied Lewis and Clark on their journey.  My son Lowell loved that book in third grade and demanded another copy.  He also bought a bear tooth from the Urals that he promptly left in Phillips Hall which I always thought was Rocket Hall of the ladies from the Oconee County Historical Society clued me in. I strongly recommended that he at least go back and look

Hi-ya folks! Fall is here – the weather has finally turned once again to the crisp and cool - and to usher in the season, the Fall Festival has arrived!  This Saturday the Oconee Farmers Market will be running from 8am-5pm , running along side the Fall Festival, downtown Watkinsville! We will be there this weekend with a table brimming over with beef, eggs, fall veggies, pottery (wine cups are in…and going FAST!), and other farm crafts and such.   Other vendors will also be bringing their fall finest and across the street more artisans and craft folks will be gathered for one big fall-palooza! a tribute... In this week's email I will forego the recipes and meat talk….some of you may have grown weary of strictly beef emails – and I must admit, I'm running out of

" While the short-term deal reached Wednesday will delay permanent harm to the economy, the GOP obstructionists who engaged in brinksmanship with the lives of millions of Americans must be held to a higher standard by their constituents.  We are elected to do the business of government, and if we fail to do our jobs, legislators must be held to account," said Rep. Stacey Abrams, leader of the Georgia House Minority Caucus. President Barack Obama sign

Delusions of grandeur temporarily derailed (again)

Tonight the Oconee County Democratic Committee met without me as Chair. I resigned after an email from Congressional chair and former campaign chair for my race for House Patsy Harris of Morgan County seemed particularly incensed at my endorsement of Oglethorpe County attorney Gary Garrard in the Republican Primary for the 10th district Congressional race (after she received a complaint from someone from Morgan County after this endorsement was picked up by the right wing blog Peach Pundit). In this blog I have never let party labels stop me from usually picking the losers as it is generally the kiss of death when an activist Democrat chooses a Republican candidate. Many Republicans I have picked in Board of Commission and Board of Education races here in Oconee County have become lifelong friends. I do not let a letter behind someone's name determine whether or not I think this person is a quality individual worthy of support. As anyone who has talked to me for more than five
