Georgians Deliver Cease and Desist Order to GOP HQ
Demand end to extreme politics
Atlanta, Ga. - October 15, 2013 -  With only two days before a threatened default on the nation's debts, Georgians outraged by the shutting down of vital government services and willingness to drive the United States government into default, are issuing a Cease and Desist order at the Georgia GOP Headquarters, 11:00 a.m. Tues., Oct. 15, 2013.

"The US House leadership is threatening to drive the United States into defaulting on its debts and the clock is ticking. We are demanding that Republicans stop the extreme politics, which are destroying the American Dream of prosperity for all," said Larry Pellegrini, executive director of USAction affiliate Georgia Rural Urban Summit.

Steve Toggerson, of the MoveOn.org Gwinnett Council said, "We are delivering a cease and desist order demanding that Republicans stop derailing the government, wrecking the economy and destroying the livelihoods of Georgia's working families. In two weeks of the government shutdown caused by extreme politics, 400,000 Americans remain out of work and millions of American families are being denied services. And now the Republicans are saying they will only honor the nation's debts if they can cut Social Security and Medicare. We demand they cease and desist today from destroying the American dream."

The Cease and Desist order is being delivered to the GOP members and affiliates by costumed circus characters to reinforce the public's opinion that Congress has become a circus. The circus characters will also introduce Georgians who describe the harm to their families from the government shut down, proposed GOP cuts in Social Security and Medicare and the repeal of the Affordable Care Act.

Republican House Speaker John Boehner has linked ending the government shutdown to de-funding the Affordable Care Act and preventing the United States from defaulting to cuts in Social Security and Medicare.

The Cease and Desist order is one of many delivered today to the offices of Republican members of Congress throughout the country.
The Georgia Republican Party Headquarters are located at 3110 Maple Drive, NE, Atlanta, GA 30305.
