SOS Qualifying Training in Macon

Evidently this is being put on by Brian Kemp's office and not by the Democratic Party of Georgia. I asked our member of the Board of Elections and Registration Robert Wyatt through his wife Ann Stoneburner if he would like to attend.

Subject: Qualifying Training for the DPG in Macon

Dear County Chairs, CD Chairs and DPG Elected Officers,

As we indicated last week, the Georgia Secretary of State will be conducting training for County Party officials on Friday, April 27, 2012 at the Secretary of State's Professional Licensing Board Office (237 Coliseum Drive) in Macon, GA from 10:00am until 2:00pm. Right now we have about 20 people who have RSVP'd - If you'd like to attend and have not RSVP'd, please let me know so that I can share with the Secretary of State.

To answer a few questions:

1) There is no cost for this event. It is free, although some might need lodging. As I travel around the state, I have found that hotwire.com and travelocity.com usually provide the best, lowest cost options for lodging. Other options include priceline.com and hotels.com.

2) The training is conducted by the Secretary of State, not the DPG. As such, there will not be another training from the GA SOS before qualifying. We strongly recommend that CD Chairs attend this event, but we are checking with the Sect. of State to see if the DPG can record the event for those not in attendance, and holding a training prior to the May 19th State Committee meeting conducted by DPG staff. These options have not been finalized and we hope to have more information soon.

We need a head count of those people who wish to attend. If you would like to learn how to qualify candidates on the local level and will attend this meeting, please RSVP me (eric@georgiademocrat.org).

Thanks,

--
