New riverkeeper named for Altamaha  | ajc.com

This vast Georgia watershed includes all the branches of the Oconee River locally as the northern headwaters of this beautiful network of riparian streams, creeks, ponds and assorted springs and lakes as well as the traditional perception as merely rivers and better known waterways. Following in the shoes of James Holland is a mighty tough act to follow, as I think James Holland should be Governor, but Sonja Cox sounds like she is ready to get her boots wet running.

A deep wound waiting to be healed - restoring order and dignity in the city cemetery

Image
The Watkinsville City Cemetery is an oasis amidst the houses on the east side of the municipality, near the neighborhood once called Sidney. There is a large section of the cemetery that remains a mystery, but perhaps we can work together to dignify the eternal resting spot somewhat better than the current neglected and forgotten (not to mention unmarked) graves of 70 people, more than likely of African-American descent. Listed below is the EXACT account of what I shared with the ABH. I have lots of pride in both schools and I am merely trying to protect my student athletes. I have been associated with numerous GHSA state championships and our athletes are top shelf. We won a state championship in football at OCHS when I was there because we made are kids bigger faster and stronger. OC is not our enemy nor is it who or what we are preparing our athletes for. My decision is about unity. My decision is about stepping up to play the Stephens Counties and the Hart coun...
