Watkinsville fatality ID'd as 51 year old Perry Ponder in Putters Drive crash last week

ACCIDENT WITH FATALITY - UPDATE
The victim in the accident which occurred around 0920 April 10 on Jefferson Rd near Putters Dr has been identified as Perry Deraymonus Ponder, 51, of Hodges Mill Rd, Watkinsville. No charges have been filed pending completion of the investigation.

BURGLARY
A vacant Ruth St residence owned by Ernest Peek of Northcrest Dr was burglarized between 1200 April 11 and 1430 April 12. A refrigerator and stove valued at $2,200 were stolen. (04-0887)
Between 0920 and 0945 April 12, Athens Arena, 280 Commerce Blvd, was burglarized. Bottles of alcohol valued at $309 were stolen. The suspects are a white female, a darker complexion female, two black males, and a white male. No further descriptions were given. They left in a white, medium size car – possibly a Honda or Toyota.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Tiffany Lashawn Stevens reported her vehicle keyed while parked at her Martin Cir residence between 2000 April 11 and 0900 April 12. The damage was estimated to be in excess of $500. (04-0861)
THEFT BY TAKING / CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Copper tubing valued at $50 was stolen from an air conditioner unit at a vacant Ruth St residence owned by Deborah Jane Jones of Watkinsville. During the theft, the unit, valued at $2,000, was damaged. This occurred between 1200 March 22 and 1055 April 12. (04-0866)
Captain Melanie Rutledge will be on call for management purposes until 0800 Monday, April 20.
