Watkinsville Council hires ex-cop to clean up city | Online Athens
Thus begins our introduction to Joe Walter, a tall skinny civil servant who busted Ed Tant for weed back in the day. He always seemed very interested in qualifying for his pension. He also is one of four folks working with the Watkinsville Car Wash behind the Chicken Express. He served two terms as Mayor and at least that many as city council member after being the first Code Enforcement Officer. Both he and his subsequent replacement Robert Hegge have a nicotine habit that I hope they cure soon enough.
Recently I decided to post links to older articles I wrote before I had this blog, primarily from freelance assignments as a Correspondent for the Athens Banner-Herald newspaper from 1995 to 2005. These are provided as background and perspective in an area not wanting to forget its recent history. I hope these enlighten you.
