Following is a message from Lee Becker with more detailed information on the points residents along Barber Creek hope to have included in the resolution approving the treatment plant expansion.

Dear Friends,
The Oconee County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to vote on Sept. 4 on the upgrade to Rocky Branch sewage plant.
I will make a presentation justifying our three requests of the Board. We are asking the Board to:
1. Agree to hold discharge water from the Rocky Branch sewage treatment plant in storage facilities when Barber Creek is flooding or threatening to flood, rather than discharge into the Creek;
2. Treat effluent from the Rocky Branch sewage treatment plant to the highest level possible with the technology available and, at a minimum, to the level of treatment at the Hill Plant in Gwinnett County for water being discharged into Lake Lanier; and
3. Set up a system of independent monitoring of the Rocky Branch sewage treatment plant, its effluent, and Barber Creek.
Please attend the meeting, which starts at 7 p.m., and bring a friend. And please let me know that you'll be there and who will join you. The Board of Directors of Friends, Karen Kimbaris, Tim Price and Joe Block, plan to be there and to bring people as well. People who wish can simply stand and support these three requests.
You'll remember that we were denied a chance to meet with the Board, so this is our only opportunity to speak.
Even if you can be there, write to the Board members and ask them to agree to these three requests. Here are their email addresses:
Melvin Davis, mdavis@oconee.ga.us
Jim Luke, jluke@oconee.ga.us, jluke13@yahoo.com
Don Norris, dnorris@oconee.ga.us
Margaret Hale, mshale@oconee.ga.us, Marghale@aol.com
Chuck Horton, chorton@oconee.ga.us
These three requests are reasonable. I believe at least three of the Commissioners are open to supporting all three. That's all we need.
Please attend the meeting. Please write to the Commissioners. Please support Barber Creek.
Thanks
Lee
