Ashley Hood will do good, Carter Brank kind of stank, Kim Argo packed her cargo

I am looking forward to hearing the candidates for Post 3 of the Oconee County Board of Education at next week's forum sponsored by a consortium of groups at the Library on Experiment Station Road Wednesday. I listened intently to Tim Bryant's interview with GBI agent Carter Brank today on his News Maker Friday show on News Talk 1340 WGAU. Brank kind of sank in my estimation when he talked about how he might want to consider raising taxes and repeated the mantra about not knowing enough about the Charter School system. I hope some candidate will tell me what they know about the Charter School and it seems that David Weeks is already chair-designate and is willing to explore the possibility of changing the whole system over like they have somewhere near Augusta (Westboro?). I understand Kim Argo is skipping the event at the library so we do not get to hear from all the candidates.

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. Any one who has listened to 960 the Ref AM sports talk radio or heard the UGA Lady Dawgs or men's baseball team has surely heard the encyclopedic knowledge of one Jeff Dantzler. Jeff and I are pretty much diametrically opposed poltically, but today he was arrested on four counts including DUI. I hope he gets the help he needs following his incarceration. This man is a great broadcaster and I hope this arrest serves as a wake-up call for him and his rock and roll lifestyle. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
