Subject: AADems Breakfast 14 February
Date: Wed, 21 Jan 2009 10:27:43 -0500
I hope all of you were as inspired by the inauguration ceremonies yesterday as I was! I watched from the departure from Blair House through the first couple of balls. Now it's time to get down to business, or as our President said: "pick ourselves up, shake ourselves off, and get to work". People are going to expect a lot from this administration. We helped put them there and we are going to have to help them succeed.
Our next breakfast will be on 14 FEBRUARY 2009 at 9:00 A.M. AT TRUMPS ON SOUTH MILLEDGE. I am assured there will be no changes this time. This location is at The Shops of South Athens near the location of the old Bi-Lo.
The speaker will be: HEIDI DAVIDSON, MAYOR OF ATHENS-CLARKE COUNTY. Even though many of you come from outside Clarke County, you probably shop, come to events, etc. in Athens and are affected by the government here, but I have also asked Heidi to address the AREAS OF REGIONAL COOPERATION that we are actively trying to promote.
PLEASE MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS BY 9 FEBRUARY. CALL OR E-MAIL us, anitabarney@charter.net, 706-543-1480 or Denise Ricks uselessandnogood@hotmail.com, 706-247-3558. I have to call in a number to Trumps on Tuesday the 10th. I am eager for all of you to make reservations and come, but please keep in mind that WE MUST PAY FOR THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE THAT WE GUARANTEE TO TRUMPS. Last time a number of people had made reservations, but for one reason or another were not able to come. Several of them have since given us their checks, but not everyone. The $12 you pay goes directly to Trumps. That is the cost of the breakfast. When someone that has a reservation doesn't show up, someone has to pay for them.
For those of you who do not want to eat breakfast. There will be a few extra chairs and you can come about 9:30 for the program.
FUTURE PROGRAMS: March is mental health month and David Jarrett and Martha DeHart are planning a panel that will address the mental health programs in our area and the challenges we face. For April or May, Gwen O'Looney is planning a program on local environmental programs and challenges and I have contacted Dr. Charles Bullock of UGA Political Science Dept. to speak to us. If you have suggestions for any of these coordinators, please let them know and if you have suggestions for future programs, please let me know.
