Subject: Republican Hypocrisy
| Dear Georgia Democrat: First, let me be clear. I am running for Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia. And I trust that the Party leadership will ensure that the state committee members get an open and fair election for this position. I agree with Jay Bookman, opinion columnist and blogger for the AJC, in his recent blog titled "Georgia Democrats: Stop being so stupid!" The gender rule is "stupid" and doesn't reflect the make up of the Democratic Party of Georgia which looks more like Georgia than any other political organization in the state. That last fact makes me eager to serve as Chair. But let me say this, with regard to the GOP's hypocritical comments in their recent tweets and Facebook posts -- We have real issues in Georgia. Rather than addressing those issues, the Republican leaders are throwing rocks at Democrats about diversity. I say "bring it on!" How ironic that 93+% of Gov. Deals appointments are white, the Speaker is a white male, both the Republican U.S. Senators are white males, 70% of Gov. Deals appointments are male, every single constitutional officer is a white male, the majority leader in the Senate is a white male, and Gov. Deal has not one African-American on his staff. If the Republicans want to have a debate about diversity and inclusiveness and which party does a better job with that, just let me know. I've got my gloves on. Sincerely, | | | | |
