Hello, fellow Democrats!

As usual, we have your weekly update on what the Young Democrats will be up to in the near future and how you can help us better the great state of Georgia and spread the message of progress.

I. First Meeting.

Our first meeting is this Wednesday! We hope to see each and every one of you on August 21st at 6:15pm in MLC 148! Come on by and meet the Executive Board, find out how you can get involved in your community, grab some delicious pizza (for free!) and make some new friends!

We will be talking about our plans for the semester and our future interaction with organizations in the Athens-Clark County area.

We will be discussing political news and filling you in on what has been going on in the world of politics while you have been away this summer.

Our meetings are a great way to stay tuned to what is going on both locally and nationally and they are also a great platform for community involvement, so we strongly encourage you to attend!

Due to an unforeseen Facebook glitch, the first event we created and promoted has been rendered nonfunctional. Please RSVP to the newly created event that is linked below so we know how much food to purchase. Also, remember to like out page and join our Facebook group to stay on top of what we are up to!

II. Book Donation Drive.

As we have been promoting for the past couple of weeks, we are involved in a charity book donation drive with the awesome local organization Books... For Keeps!  to help out their upcoming charity book sale.

We encourage you to bring any books you have no need for to Wednesday's meeting and we will make sure they are donated to help fight illiteracy amongst the least fortunate children of the county. The book sale will be from August 22nd to August 25th in the Homewood Village Shopping Center.

We are also volunteering during the book sale! Come say hi on Sunday, August 25th from 3:30pm to 6:30pm. Or better yet - come volunteer with us! We will have a sign up sheet at our meeting for those willing and able to help this great cause even further!

Please check out BFK and the awesome work they are doing on Facebook and RSVP to their book sale, as this truly is an important fight that we cannot afford to lose.

III. Fall Activities Fair.

Finally, we have the upcoming Fall Activities Fair to look forward to. The Fall Activities Fair is a gathering of all of the student organizations on campus. The purpose is to encourage student participation and involvement.

The fair will be on August 28th, 10:30am-3pm in Tate Plaza and Tate Grand Hall. We will be there and we hope to see you too! Come say hi, bring some friends and have us fill them in on why the Young Dems are the best party on campus!

Or, if you prefer, you can help us fill them in! You can sign up and help us table at the fair at the link listed below! Remember - the more, the merrier!

That's all for now, everyone. We have an awesome semester planned ahead of us and we are very excited to kick it off on Wednesday! We'll see you there!

Best wishes,
The Exec. Board
