Join us this month for our guest speaker,  Kerstin Emerson, Professor at University of Georgia’s Institute of Gerontology.

Kerstin Emerson joined the University of Georgia’s
Institute of Gerontology in August, 2010.  She has a strong academic
background in gerontology, holding both a Masters and a PhD in
gerontology. Prior to her faculty appointment, she worked for two years
as a postdoctoral fellow at the Sealy Center on Aging at the University
of Texas Medical Branch, where she studied the health of older
Hispanics.

As a gerontologist interested in aging and health, her research uses
large secondary data analyses to explore aging issues in the United
States.  Her research includes loneliness among older adults, exploring
the impact of immigration on mental health, as well as the influence of
neighborhood characteristics on physical and mental health outcomes.
