Origins & Derivations
Paintings by Virginia Parker
V Parker Tomato and Vampire Diaries Knife
Virginia Parker's paintings are richly detailed personal documents, like journal or diary entries about the push-pull of environment and heredity. Some are explicitly narrative, others tacitly allegorical, but no matter which style you enjoy you will find a painting that will amaze you.
Exhibition on display through October 31, 2011
Georgia Small Works
Juried Exhibition
GSW Painting
The premise behind this exhibition is that no artwork is larger than 14" X 14", hence the small works designation. The exhibit features more than two-hundred, 2-D and 3-D works selected by jurors Margaret Morrison and Ted Saupe, art professors at the University of Georgia.

Wheel of Fortune is searching for contestants in Atlanta!
Hey Atlanta Wheel Watchers!
Dear Dan,

We know you love Wheel of Fortune and from all of the viewer messages we receive, we also know that you want to be a contestant and SPIN the famous Wheel! Last year over a million people requested the chance to audition for Wheel of Fortune. Fewer than 600 people were selected to appear on the show.

The primary way to get a chance to audition is to attend a Wheelmobile event when it spins into your town. Now, we have joined forces with our friends at Sony Pictures' Face of the Fan® to give you and Atlanta area-viewers this exclusive opportunity to submit your video for the chance to audition to be a contestant on America's Game, Wheel of Fortune.

It's easy! Just tell us, in :60 seconds or less, a little bit about yourself, why you love Wheel of Fortune and why you would be a great contestant. If your video is selected, you may have the opportunity to audition for the Show on November 1st. This is your chance to be seen by the casting executives.

Hurry! Submission period ends October 21st.

What makes a great Wheel of Fortune contestant?
Many factors go into choosing a Wheel of Fortune contestant. First of all, it's a lot more difficult playing the game in the studio where there's a live audience (plus you're on national television!) than in the comfort of your living room.

We love players who are at ease, fun, and good game players. It's important that the game moves along as quickly as possible; that players are decisive in calling out their letters (in a loud voice) and in choosing their game strategy (whether to spin, buy a vowel, or solve the puzzle.) We want contestants to call logical letters; good game players seem to strike a good balance between calling consonants and buying vowels. (Why buy vowels? It may help to fill in the gaps in the puzzles.)

It's been our general observation through the years that contestants who play with passion, poise, and a sense of humor (without forgetting to call logical letters) - tend to do better on the show. Most contestants, at the end of a show, say that it was more difficult than they expected; and that it was the quickest (about 22 minutes without commercials), most exhilarating time of their lives.

The final ingredient of a great contestant is a positive attitude. We want every contestant to win on our show, but there's always the factor of "Lady Luck" - that's why it's called Wheel of Fortune. We want people to come to the taping with the mindset that they're going to have a good time, win or lose. Hey - you're on Wheel of Fortune - the most popular game show in the history of the world so you're already a winner!
