I love campaigning for Mayor - will you now please vote for Dan Matthews?
Watkinsville deserves a Mayor who knows the issues, who knows what has been done, and knows yet what needs to be done. Please give me the chance to prove it to you with your ultimate seal of approval by voting for Matthews for Mayor Tuesday or before.
I love campaigning because I enjoy conversing with the voters about the issues, and learn more from the voters every day. Watkinsville will have a new mayor and to me, it is is a question of vision for the future or glimpses of the past. It is about knowledge of what the current council has been doing, how they have been doing it, and what they have yet to get done.
It is about respecting the decisions of the city council even they disagree with the wishes of the candidates for Mayor. It is about walking the streets, riding on bikes, finding the cracks in the curbs and infrastructure, and knowing the lay of the land. I have worked to keep Watkinsville clean and beautiful, picking up road debris around the intersection of Main Street and Barnett Shoals with 15 and 441 Business (sometimes referred to as 24).
I think it would be nice to park a distinctive decorative wrought iron trash and recycling receptacles at the corner closest to the Big Easy and bakery. This would give local pedestrians a place to put their drink cups and what not instead of on the street. It would also provide a landmark place to meet for Christmas parade and other events.
I want to make the streets safer for our children and bicyclists. I will make sidewalks on Harden Hill aand Simonton Bridge Roads a priority of my leadership of the Watkinsville City Council. I want to improve our recreational facilities and double the size of Harris Shoals Park. We need leadership with vision and team work.
The current council has done a fantastic job and I want to continue with the work they have started. I have thoroughly enjoyed the process and answering the questions of the voters. I want to lead and keep Watkinsville wonderful. Please vote Dan Matthews for Mayor of Watkinsville with the last two days of early voting ending at 4:30 pm Thursday and Friday as well as Election Day Tuesday. The Community Cener and Government Annex will be open 7 AM to 7 PM Tuesday.
I will work hard every day to make you proud of your decision to vote for me, and try to prove to those that may have supported someone else I am worthy of their support and trust as well. Thank you very much for taking part in the greatest aspect of being an American - our election process.

Leaf vacuum is down in Watkinsville
Be prepared for leaves to hang out a little while longer at your curb in Watkinsville. The Street Department will get it soon.
Sincerely,
Dan MatthewsThe City's leaf vacuum is down for repair. We are hoping to have it back from the repair shop by the end of this week. In the meantime, the Street Department is loading leaves left by the side of the road by hand. Though a slow and inefficient method, which puts us behind on our normal pickup schedule, we are endeavoring to pick up as many piles as possible. Please bear with us during this period of no leaf vacuum. Thank you.
