FW: [AthensForObama] Chad Brock for Obama Alternate-Delegate of the 10 Congressional District

I whole heartedly endorse Karen Solheim and David Jarrett for Obama delegates and Chad Brock for alternate. Please attend the Congressional District 10 delegate selection meeting 9 am Saturday morning at Clarke Central HS in Athens.

Woven brightly,
Daniel J. Matthews, Jr.

Fellow Obama Supporters,

I have met many of you through my work as State Coordinator of Georgia Students for Barack Obama and as Deputy Field Coordinator for the Obama for America Campaign in Georgia. I am a Senior at the University of Georgia and I worked predominately in Athens and Atlanta.

I would like to announce my candidacy for Obama Alternate Delegate, representing the 10 Congressional District of Georgia at  the 2008 Democratic Convention. I have worked tirelessly on behalf of the Obama campaign since April of 2007 and if I am elected, I pledge to vote for Senator Obama from the floor of the 2008 Democratic National Convention.

The 2008 Democratic Convention could very well be the most historical and contested conventions of our lifetime. Due to Senator Clinton's insistence on continuing her campaign until the convention, it is clear that the Democratic nominee will be decided at the Convention.

Despite the fact that Senator Obama took the state of Georgia, including our very own 10th Congressional District, the "pledged delegates" of this district could very well ignore our votes and cast their ballot for Senator Clinton.

Therefore, it is imperative that we elect delegates that will uphold the will of the people and act on their own conviction that Senator Obama should be our Democratic nominee and our next President!

I would greatly appreciate your support this Saturday at our 10 District Delegate Election. The election will begin promptly at 10:00 AM and will be held at Clarke Central High School in Athens, GA.

A vote for me will be a vote for Senator Obama!

Here are my qualifications:

Obama for America Campaign
Deptuty Field Coordiantor/Student Coordinator (November 2007-February 2008)

-Developed and organized field operations across the state
-Helped set up 10 offices across the state and made thousands of voter contacts in each of our

Students for Barack Obama
Georgia Director (April 2007-May 2008)

-During my term, I built a true statewide campaign with 22 high school and college chapters across the state. As a state chapter, we contributed over 10,000 volunteer hours and contacted over 50,000 voters
-I utilized new mediums such as Facebook, which has completely revolutionized political organizing. Facebook has played an integral role in bringing historical numbers of students and young professionals into the political process. We recruited over 1,500 students through Facebook, which made us one of the largest Students for Barack Obama chapters in the country

-GA Students for Barack Obama played an instrumental role in Senator Obama's grassroots campaign here in GA and CNN exit polls showed that 81% of GA voters (age 18-24) voted for Senator Obama

Thank you all for your time and for your support of Senator Obama's campaign!

Sincerely,
Chad Brock
