Glad to see Jim Powell is taking it to the streets and not waiting for the battle to come to him.

STATEMENT OF JIM POWELL

Democratic Nominee, Georgia Public Service Commission, District 4

November 10, 2008

Our first-place finish in last week's General Election is another positive step toward victory in the race for Georgia Public Service Commission. I am so appreciative of this tremendous support from the people of Georgia.

We have much work to do in the final weeks of this campaign. I look forward to continuing our conversation with Georgia voters about how important it is to elect a Public Service Commissioner who will bring some balance to the decision-making process on utility rates, energy policy and consumer protection.

I am the only candidate in this runoff who has refused to accept campaign contributions from representatives of the utility companies the PSC regulates. As a Commissioner, my decisions will be based solely on what it best for our state and its citizens. My 20 years of experience as a senior executive with the U.S. Department of Energy gives me a unique background from which to address these issues.
