Oconee County Historical Society needing to fund signage at Heritage Park

At last night’s meeting some of you asked for a copy of the flyer I handed around. I decided to send it out to everyone on the mailing list. Please share it where ever you can with any golfers you think might be interested in buying tickets to this event. The full price for the ticket will go to us and will be used towards our sign project at Heritage Park . Now that there are 3 buildings there we need to raise enough money for 3 signs.

Dear Karl,

You probably have already heard about the golf tournament that is coming up here in Athens April 26-May 2. I recently was involved in signing up 2 groups that I belong to for their “Tickets Fore Charity” program. That means that people who buy tickets online and sign up for a charity will have the full amount of the ticket price sent to the charity they choose. I thought that you or people you know may be talking about coming down for the event. If you do I’d be delighted if you could choose either the Oconee County Historical Society of the Friends of Scull Shoals for your charity.
They are both groups that I am involved with that are interested in promoting local historical sites and buildings. The historical society is currently trying to collect money to purchase signs so that people who visit our park that now has 3 historical buildings in it will be able to learn a little something about the buildings. The Friends of Scull Shoals are working to develop an herb trail that will highlight some of the herbs used by Dr. Durham, who had connections to the Scull Shoals site. Both groups could use funds to further their programs and neither one has a large reliable source of funds beyond the dues they collect from members.
You can use the poster on the back side of this letter to advertise for me or just tell folks on your own. It is up to you.
I hope all is well with you and that all the chilly weather and rain we have been having lately haven’t affected your work too much.
